I think he is up near a million a year now but even those salaries above are too much for a dang college baseball coach. I don't even think single A ball pays their coaches like that and they are the direct feeders to the major leagues which does actually make a lot of money unlike college where no one attends the games hardly unless its the college world series.
They should get about the same percentage of revenue that the football coach gets (say around 4 percent).

The first page I googled said that baseball made 1.4 mil in revenue. By that standard he should make around 50k. Of course it also says baseball loses 2 mil a year, so that means he owes us around 80k each year. Im ok with either.

Some have not realized that in this arena as in say government, throwing money at an issue is not an answer. Sure you need to spend money, but you also must use your brains first. If we need money we will raise it and spend it effectively. What that entails is a question for discussion, but we won't just have a football team well provided for while other Gators are forgotten.

Yes I know, but to listen to some of our posters they apparently think more money is a cure all. Do you have an opinion on that?
If we had a larger budget for coaches we'd have better coaches. If we had better facilities it would improve recruiting. That's why everyone else is spending more on coaches and facilities. That's how things work in a market economy.

The UAA is waiting on your donation.
Donations alone wont get us past alabma. Why you ask? Because the boosters for Alabama have no lives outside of Bama football. There are NO other attractions in the state of Alabama and NO pro teams to root for. Its simply Bama 24/7 for those boosters. So even if we got our donation contributions up from our boosters, it will never rival bama's. Heck, they paid off Saban''s house i heard (if that rumors true.)

yes, but again money isnt the issue people are just upset we don't use more of our revenue on the one sport that moves the meter.
Sports moves UFs meter?

Sports is a rounding error at UF.

Thanks for the response, my many years of experience indicate to me that you have to select the correct people and those don't just come due to money. You need the right facilities to achieve your goals and the right strategy and tactics to achieve them.

Sure money has its place but if money was the only factor say Solyndra would have been a massive success.

This is how things work in reality, perhaps we don't have the right AD or HBC, but just spending more money will not fix any of our issues.

2222, you work for the UAA, don't you?

I'm not sure why you go to the hassle of dividing the dollars by the number of scholarship football player, but everyone knew or presumed already we were near the bottom in football spending. This of course this bears that out.

We make plenty of money on the football program and spend it elsewhere because we aren't going to compete with the big programs/get in an arms race/whatever euphemism we are using today.

I think you repeat that line so often because for some reason you think it's clever. Trust me, the people at the UAA don't care what you or any of the rest of us write on this board. You throw out that tired line every time I support the program as though that would somehow denigrate the validity of my opinion. Now you use the same line when I show that the UAA is being outspent by our conference rivals. I have access to these numbers because the internet is a thing. As usual, I provided links to my sources.

I did not personally divide the numbers by scholarship players. The numbers were provided in that format at the source of the information in the provided link.
