It's becoming highly debatable…

Rumors are flying that the Michigan people landed in Colorado an hour ago.

Ox crazy question. Is this the hire that you thought about a month ago that Gator Nation would be fired up over?

No. I had never heard of Jim McElwain a month ago. I don't consider this a "splash hire" in the least. Doesn't mean it's a bad hire, though.

Ha! I'm being told the Nebraska jet is there too! Has a big red "N" on the tail.

Twitter says CSU is not budging off the $7.5 Million buyout. Take that for what its worth.

I like the potential hire, but I would prefer that we pay Stoops $6 million a year to lure him from Oklahoma instead of paying for this buyout.

Are we getting into a bidding war over this guy?

Maybe there is a reason why there is a bidding war?

I think it's a good hire but not the splash that we need

His potential is good, but unless he is going to take a paycut, the buyout isn't worth it.

The only specific thing I heard about McElwain from a source came from the best one I had, the Freeze source. It was three things:

1) Freeze was the #1 target and he was expected to be persuaded
2) Foley didn't like Dan Mullen
3) McElwain's buyout was too high

FWIW

Find it hard to believe Flley would be this public with his pursuit if he wasn't planning on offering. That said, it's almost impossible to keep anything a secret in this day and age.

This is turning ugly. Really makes Foley look bad going out there and coming back empty handed.

Not really. What if Foley is still interviewing other candidates. Weren't you one of the ones pissing and moaning about him not doing his due diligence yesterday?

I still think there will be at least two more candidates interviewed. McEwain might be the lead candidate, but the UAA and Foley would still do due diligence. Nebraska doesn't have Florida money, and Michigan while powerful might scoff at the buyout as well.
