No, the fact that the NFL is spending money and, apparently, going to make Winston a franchise player in the league is validation of him. As for number one picks failing in the NFL, there is no guarantee that Winston won't be one of them. I don't know the percentage of number one picks, but the percentage of first round quarterbacks who don't pan out is around 50%. The point, that went over your head, is that the NFL doesn't believe Winston is a bad person, or he would not be the first pick in the draft. It's easy to have an opinion, but when you are spending millions of dollars, you rely on something more than an opinion. It might be that Winston is the victim, but that thought makes some your heads explode, doesn't it? By the way, everything is wonderful in the world of "If" that some of you seem to inhabit. Come out and experience the real world, you may not like it as much, but at least it's real.

The NFL didn't believe Lawerence Phillips was a bad person either (#6 overall), entered camp after being released from jail... so your argument is exactly what? Personally, I don't know what Winston did or didn't do. But with the Rookie Cap it makes it easier for teams to make these kind of gambles on a person. It's not like he is going to get Sam Bradford money, due to the Rookie Cap.

The NFL isn't checking if he is a bad person, there are a lot of NFL players that are bad people. They are checking if they are going to have to deal with any aftermath or future issues. Those are two vastly different things, which you seem not to get. The League (more importantly the Bucs) are checking if they are going to be have any issues with him in the future. And if the risk outweighs the reward. They probably think he is a knucklehead but if he hits his potential (which is pretty damn good) is it worth the risk. Most of us just doubt he will reach that potential. But if you are picking first overall, usually that means you have made some questionable decisions already (see the Bucs FA class from last year).

So as a business decision is a bad quarterback draft, one of the worst in history. He is the best of a bad crop, Tampa needs to do something.

Your arguments are all over the place, and none are actually supported by historical fact. If a person is talented (which Jameis does have the physical gifts) then the NFL is going to take a shot, especially at a rate in which that shot will not kill them (rookie cap).

Don't worry, once Winston gets caught raping these women he'll find out what it's all about to be a victim when he's in rayford.

Hey, Jimbo is spewing a lie fest. Why ruin it with facts or accuracy?

What a great role model he is.

"Some of his mistakes come from wanting to be normal. … He likes being seen as a normal student, and not Jameis Winston. "

lol
Like his litany of criminal acts and transgressions are normal.
Jameis depends on being seen as special in order to do what he wants free of consequences.

there is so much that could be remarked on in jimbo's fanciful tale.

He definitely doesn't think he needs to be in top shape. Then again, he's never shown a desire to be at his best at much of anything so I guess it's no surprise. Physical condition, behavior, morals, even on-field play last year was embarrassing. He had almost as many picks as TDs. This guy completely banks on the concept of getting a pass where others wouldn't; and that fact makes dipsh*t fisher's statement about how "he just wants to be seen as a normal kid" even more asinine and pathetic.

As an aside, I saw The Hunting Ground is showing in tally now. I guess Jimbo's advance NFL draft damage control PR will be grabbed onto like a lifeline to further discredit the film.
