Southern Miss wasn't on probation when Fedora took over, nor were they on probation anywhere near that time. Their program was on solid footing, having gone bowling something like 9 out of the previous 10 seasons. Jeff Bower had built a very solid program that Fedora walked into. I'll pass on Fedora.

Let's be honest, though. Oklahoma's situation was different and they didn't go out and do a search. Stoops retired in the summer and Riley, who was already on the staff, got promoted as there really wasn't much of a choice due to the timing. Don't get me wrong, Riley is off to a great start and is showing himself worthy but let's be real...if he had come out this season and shyt the bed, Oklahoma would have no problem firing him at season's end and doing a full blown search. Totally different situation than what we'll have to do, unless anybody thinks Nuss is worthy of a one season audition as HC.

Off the topic of head coaches for a moment, Tee Martin appears to be a damn good OC for Southern Cal. Not that he'd leave there for the OC job in Gainesville but he actually looks like he knows what he's doing, unlike Nuss. It will be interesting to watch his career arc over the next 15 years.

By the looks of that pic, I'd say he's fooled a lot of people.

Above all and bye now buy now, we need an HC who is a "killer-HC" along with his "killer OC-hire" along with their keep-it-real other staff hires. One who believes, even in runaways you let our sub-guys score more too.
Fire, fire, fire. Hire, hire, hire. Clean all the puke out the house.

Still think the Bull Gators + administers should lay an offer on Spurrier too good for he & Jerry to refuse. Thinking out of the box offer:
    1) 1,2,3 year highest salary
    2) include the salary it takes for Steve to hire HC-in-waiting to handle butting heads with admins (Gator Kerwin Bell)
    3) money for best staff of his choosing
    4) get a great SEC recruiter to assure we have a sharp recruiting "seal team 6".
    5) of course our style of play and fun will do its own magnetic recruiting of the best.
    6) have the highly regarded UF School of Advertising + School of Psychology to put together a "TED" DVD & brochure that recruits & parents can pull out after recruiters from other schools leave their home.
*** Time to pull out all the stops, think out of the boxed-in we're walled into.
*** Don't throw MacNuss under the bus ... give'em the bus full of gas. This year, right after securing an HC & Crew who can keep Corral & crew. Doesn't matter if Mac & crew know it's happening. All will be seeming sloppiness will be forgotten once we are Florida again. That fakery of Urban was never a media blight.

No one worships SOS more than me. However, that--even if he would do it and I'm positive he wouldn't--is a recipe for continued disaster.

What you do is ask SOS to find the brightest offensive mind out there.

If he was willing to do it, pay would not be an issue in my estimation, now pay for assistants and support, including total control of the team would be important.

Not that I think it possible.

I should have pre-stated that this is the best interim HC set-up. The guy is just down the hall. He's all Gator who would like being replaced by a winner for UF in 1,2,3 years. During which time Steve would make our HC position much more attractive -- plus there are some unproven young guys out there who could lay down an assured winnership style.
My list included in the #s the stuff needed to be put in place for any HC hire - I just attached it to SOS because in our present crumbling state it's doubtful a top HC will be willing to come to this totally broken program.

Also, if anybody's prescience hates the K.Bell mention, then cancel it & just look at the other #s. The point of the SOS 1 year offer was for immediate replacement of the who we are stuck with now, plus for all outside potential top hires' understanding that we are not pulling the rug out from our decent HC Spurrier. All targeted hires would recognize that this UF support-team is being protective & smart for the incoming HC hire. This urgency route gives all time to think, test-probe for HCs, etc. UF is in the emergency position of likely making an HC & crew mistake for the third time in a row.

I'm not being bossy. I'm just pleading a prospection.
make a better choice than in such a rush.

Probably true. But it looks like someone spent so much time pining over the UF job this week, that he completely forgot to prepare for his game against Chicago today.

It's not, really. He doesn't even know the playbook and the kids don't know his.

Literally, you could walk down the hallway of the Quality Control staff, pick a random guy, and make a better choice.

You have SOS overseeing the transition or something, telling recruits and such that we are going to find an excellent replacement and fix this Bammerball horseshyt but that's is about it imo.

Lord Swonky, you really think Steve hasn't known this playbook more than any "newbie" coming in. Besides, this playbook has to be abandoned, to be replaced by the playbook whoever brings in.??
I don't think these players are buying into these offensive plans. The last 2 flat-busted hires have set us in "dead school walking" position.

Look, Rog. Just trust me on this. You can't install a new offense in the middle of the season.

You just can't. Hell, it usually takes 1.5 years to do it.

Immediate replacement would be at season's end, chopping off all contracts & extensions. Hell, I would be proud of AD Stricklin if he annouced early in the season that we're gonna hire a CFB HOF HC Spurrier by the end of the season rather than let these shytes chase away Corral & crew with a few more "no-offense" losses. SOS may take the job short-term for less $ than what we'd have to pay for a sure-fire big-name HC bought out from elsewhere.??

Spurrier left USCe because he knew he couldn't do the work to assure better than 7-5 or 8-5 seasons there. Surely you know an older, more tired SOS could no longer expect records up to his standards at USCe. Now, if our deal gives him a close knowledgeable sidekick of his picking, to plod through the crap SOS doesn't like, Steve might take on the UF rescue mission ... just 'til he helps the search committee find a youngish, "proven" HC to come to an up-rising Gator team. That person can be Bromn, Fleck (after 2 years of success at Minnesota, 3 years if count this year + 2 more Spurrier stays).

Without this route, we're going to have Mac & crew for 2018, probably 2019, & maybe beyond with 8-4 records.?? Or pay double buyouts to Mac&Crew + buyout on some other school's hero HC. Selection committee will stall that hoping on Mac.

I love SOS as much as anyone but lets face it, his coaching days are over. Nothing wrong with that.

We need to really find the right guy nexr time
