LSU schedules Homecoming Game for Florida weekend

LSU schedules Homecoming Game for Florida weekend

The LSU and Florida football programs have had some heated games in recent years, both with the battles playing on between the while lines and away from the field, most notably the scheduling debate after Hurricane Matthew.

That forced the 2016 teams to postpone the game six weeks, move it from Gainesville to Baton Rouge and create an all-out assault between fanbases as athletic directors and the conference squared off on what the best solution might be. Ultimately the Tigers landed back-to-back home games against the Gators, which then resulted in back-to-back trips for LSU to The Swamp in 2017 and 2018.

Now that the schedule between SEC West and East foes is back on track, LSU is wasting no time building up some extra buzz around the matchup.

On Wednesday, LSU announced that the 2019 Homecoming Game would be Oct. 12 when the Gators return to Tiger Stadium for the first time since 2016.

From 2010-2015, the Tigers had won five of the program's six meetings with the Gators. But Florida's trip to Tiger Stadium after Hurricane Matthew resulted in a 16-10 win for the Gators, stopping LSU at the goal line as time expired for the win.

LSU answered with a dramatic one-point victory in The Swamp a year later, and Florida then took down the Tigers last season in Gainesville with a big fourth quarter showing.

The Tigers enter the 2019 season coming off a New Year's Six Bowl win over UCF in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl. Florida is also coming off a 10-win season and New Year's Six Bowl win after knocking off Michigan in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl.

LSU will open the season at home against Georgia Southern on August 31. The annual "Purple Game" will be held on Sep. 14 for the game against Northwestern State. Oct. 5 will bring Utah State to Tiger Stadium, which will be the weekend the Alumni Band is recognized. The "Gold Game" is set for Oct. 26 when Auburn travels to Baton Rouge. "LSU Salutes" will be the weekend of the Arkansas game on Nov. 23, followed by Senior Night against Texas A&M on Nov. 30.

SU's non-conference away schedule also includes a trip to Austin to face off against the Texas Longhorns in the second week of the season

Screw them and their heauxmcoming.

They have replaced the Vols as rival #3 for me.

Partly cause Vols are a joke, but mostly cause the Tigers bleaux.

How can you be concerned with a team that has a coach that can’t speak a lick of English even though he’s lived in this country his entire life? **** those coonass, corndog smelling m’fers.

This is setting up to be a heck of a season. Image taking out Miami on opening day, clobbering Auburn on our Homecoming, and spoiling LSU's homecoming. Add Georgia and FSU, I'm excited.

When I was a kid (?1953) there was a Saturday show on called The Buster Brown Show. (Buster Browns were a leading brand of boys shoes.) A pre-muppet type character was Froggie> "Pluck your magic twanger Froggie. He'd appear in a puff of smoke and say "Hiya kids, hiya." In Orgeron's voice. So back then they were telling us that's how a frog sounds.

Don't kid yourself Tiger Stadium will be jacked.

If it's a night game hold on tight. The fans will be drunk, obnoxious, and rowdy.

Death Valley at night is a different kind of place.

And no matter your thoughts on Coach O...they love him.

That said, I think we should do fine.
