    I read an article touting a new electronic device with software analysis. It detected and interpreted physiological parameters of athletic training. Strapped across the chest of performing athletes, it measured everything (even had a sponge-pad that measured sweat-rate, amount of sweat & salt content %). The software intepreter-readers could see on a remote infrared-connected screen when the continuance of exercise was harming the athlete by disarraying muscle-firing sequences (= confusing co-ordination) as well as the subject approaching "ease of injury area". Thus it told coaches when to stop -- on that particular individual athlete.

    The trouble is they cost $25,000 each. The bigger trouble is these sports scientist bragged about FSU being the first college to buy and use them for data. (They bought 3 of them.)What Foley probly did was just "spy" the results that FSU picked a point at which to diminish pushing their players physiologic strain. And so "Foldy-the-Skrimp" just threw his suggestion into the hopper that UF paractice less & less. Voila, $75,000 saved ... for Tennis, V-ball, etc. You see, in his college days Foldy majored in Economics and 'misered' in Cheapology. (No colleges teach this anymore, too many graduates welched on their student loans.)

    PS>> I just hurriedly had to get that device off my chest. I'll spend a little time trying to locate the article & device particulars. (Trainer-Taylor made Candy wear one. That one even measured scream intensity)
    In fact, that's why Taylor decide she kneeded a trainer -- 'cause before with Jimbone she just laid there for a minute -- so she was way out of shape. A trainer gets a gal in shape.

    It's not even like we're just not taking advantage of extra practices. We are getting less now than last year because we can't do two-a-days. We're replacing them with walkthroughs (which I'm sure will be particularly useful for Zaire) but still.

    What did y'all expect, Mac is lazy, it shows in his recruiting. I guess it would take away from his PB&J sandwich making time.

    or google : Florida State Rides GPS technology to title.
    { also see article "Winston Rides Blonde Co-ed to Title".}
    At first I thought, what a great way to keep players out of seedy environments = body GPSs.

    Think of the applications. Cuts way down on practice injuries, has each player at his peak physiology, peak muscle sequential coordination, etc, etc, Also could shock-hell out of player who mis-runs his route, QB who mis-throws, and Nuss for all of those. We'd have an electric offense.

    Our coach is a very poor communicator, perhaps on purpose. That said I understand what he intended.

    First starting early would be during school and finals so that a conventional practice might not have the full attention of players, some might be studying or taking finals.

    He has thought about the alternatives which are not as indicated to not practice, but to practice less in pads and have more "walk through" time. I don't know what that might be but if they are practicing seven on seven without hitting that can be valuable and of course QB's can get plenty of reps in this way and on their own as well.

    Now we can surely disagree with the conclusion that this is better than more practice in full pads, but this is not less practice by any objective standard.

    If I was his boss he would be getting more education on how to communicate more effectively and how to manage the press, supporters, etc. better.

    Some of you guys (especially Swamp Donkey) would be the same people calling Mac out if one of our players went down with a season ending injury (knock on wood) in one of the extra practices. Is it really worth taking that risk? I'm not buying it.

    It's because he's a lazy fk. Lazy on the recruiting trail, lazy on game prep and doesn't put the time in to take this team to the next level.

    Mac's quotes are aggravating as fcvk! My blood pressure went up several notches after reading this. The team needs to be practicing, period...Mac isn't Saban so let's not go any further down that path. Putting the practice issue aside, no we don't know what you mean Jim! How about communicating in a normal, straightforward fashion that makes sense. If you can't do that, then maybe you should head out to the Pacific Northwest or the mountains of Colorado where they speak this laid back, mumbo-jumbo language because that's not working here. Hell, I'll even cover the cost of a few bags of granola for your road trip.
