Florida coach Jim McElwain was named to one of the top coaching watch lists.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida coach Jim McElwain has led his team to the SEC Championship Game in each of his first two seasons at the helm, the only coach in league history to do so.

And he's certainly getting some recognition for it, even if the Gators haven't quite broken through all the way just yet.

On Wednesday, McElwain was named to the 2017 Dodd Trophy watch list, one of 19 coaches selected. The Dodd Trophy recognizes "the head coach of a team who enjoys success on the gridiron, while also stressing the importance of scholarship, leadership and integrity."

Other SEC coaches on the watch list included Alabama's Nick Saban, Auburn's Gus Malzahn and Tennessee's Butch Jones.

McElwain has won more games since he arrived at Florida (19) than any team in the SEC other than Alabama (28).

Why sure coach Mac, Clarabelle can paint you a picture of a win over FSU.

UT head coach Butch Jones should get sum real credit for not signing the Taladega contract unless they "rained" canon-confetti and presented UT with a big "style" trophy ... but for 5 years Smokey has to wear a blanket plastered with Penzoil & Peterbilt ads. (Which BTW is how much more time Jones has recalculated that it takes to build UT into a National Champion (for Life cereal.)

Don't blame the Todd Trophy selection committee for leaving Jimbo off the list... I have a hard time watching him too.
