I am just going to leave this here...

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- New Florida athletics director Scott Stricklin didn't hire either the football coach or the basketball coach at UF, but he has full faith in the direction each coach has his program headed.

Stricklin handed out extensions and raises to both Jim McElwain and Mike White, Florida announced Friday.

McElwain received a one-year contract extension through the 2022 season with about a $200,000 per year raise. He will now make about $4.49 million annually, without taking into account any annual bonuses. Florida also upped his bonus package considerably (details below).

White, on the other hand, received a much bigger raise after leading Florida to the Elite Eight in his second season in charge. He has been extended through the 2022-23 season, with his annual salary jumping from about $1.91 million to $2.53 million. White's salary will increase by $75,000 per year, giving him an average over the length of the deal of about $2.71 million.

"Both coach Mac and coach White have done a phenomenal job of leading our programs and we are looking forward to having them lead the Gators for years to come," Stricklin said in a press release. "As much as both have won games and provided a lot of great memories for our fans and stability for the programs they lead, they have both had a huge impact on the development and personal growth of the athletes they coach."

One of the more telling signs in Florida's contract extensions are a few adjustments to McElwain's contract.

In addition to the extra year on his deal, the Gators have increased his buyout figure. They've added an extra $250,000 obligation per year left on his contract in the event they fire him without cause. McElwain will be owed $2.5 million per season left on his deal, up from $2.25 million.

That brings his total buyout figure to $12.5 million should Florida part ways with him following 2017, with that figure dropping $2.5 million each season after. The Gators do have an SEC mitigation clause in the buyout, allowing them to offset the buyout by whatever McElwain makes should he take a job elsewhere in the conference.

Florida has also upped his bonuses after the coach has reached the SEC title game in each of his first two years.

That trip has come with a $37,500 bonus the last two years. Now if McElwain makes it to Atlanta, he'll pick up an even $100,000.

You can view his new bonus structure, which allows him to earn up to an additional $800,000 in a given year, below. White's bonuses have not changed.

Jim McElwain's New Bonus Structure

Old Bonus --> New Bonus

$25,000 --> $50,000: SEC Coach of the Year
$50,000 --> $75,000: National Coach of the Year
$4,000 --> $100,000: Academic Bonus*
$37,500 --> $100,000: Reach SEC Title Game
$37,500 --> $100,000: Reach Bowl Game
$50,000 --> $100,000: Finish Top 10
$75,000 --> $200,000: Win SEC Title Game
$100,000 --> $200,000: Reach Access/Big 6 Bowl
$150,000 --> $200,000: Reach CFP Semi-final
$200,000 --> $300,000: Reach CFP Championship
$250,000 --> $400,000: Win National Title

* Academic bonus is tied to football team's single-year APR score. McElwain will receive $50,000 for an APR of 940 or higher, $75,000 for an APR 950 or higher and $100,000 for an APR 965 or higher. Florida's multi-year APR score for football in the four year period from 2012-13 to 2015-16 was 980.

If they want to give him a bump in salary, so be it. I just wish they wouldn't extend his contract unless he won something like the conference or a natty title. Just another year we're gonna have to buy out, which will make the administration hesitate to can him if they have to pay out multiple years on his contract.

Exactly, welcome to consistent mediocrity

We can kiss another 10 years of gator football goodbye. Atleast we now know Strickland is just as worthless as Foley.
