I love my Gators. I bleed Orange and Blue. I really do. But when I see McElwain's pressers I just want to bury my head into a pillow and cry. Worse yet, i know this is not going to change anytime soon.

I think it was a couple of things..

1. With the Hurricane he couldn't be the usual quirky fun guy.
2. With the way they got their a$$ kicked he couldn't be that usual guy.
3. I wonder if Stricklin gave him a dressing down and told him that this game needs to be better.
4. I don't think Mac thinks this job is too big... I think he is too arrogant to believe he is failing.

1) That guy sucks. So, aside from the damage of the storm being the cause, I'm actually ok with that result.
2) See, I think the week off should've been the barrier there. We obviously win that game, so it's not as if it had to be played. Um was 2 weeks ago. I don't see an issue with business as usual in that regard. Pretend we're 1-1 with the SEC in front of us.
3) You may be on to something there. One would hope so. Could be a good sign of things to come. But his reaction to that is the exact opposite of what you'd want to see. Is that how he expects his players to react when he jumps their case after a bad play?
4) I think you nailed it here.

keep loving on ol mac... he'll be gone soon tho so you'll have to change teams.
Never going to change teams! Plenty of changes can be made to make significant improvement before Mac has to go... Keep hatin, and you should choose another team. Maybe Alabama and you would finally be satisfied with your coach.

Yes,sorry East titles.

I guess I am not following you. When did that become any sort of standard. Winning the division but losing in the title game has always been considered a failure. I feel that you have lowered your bar over time and this is the net result. You think winning an East is a big deal. I'm not even taking into account context...the East is the worst or 2nd worst division in all of the P5 conferences.

Well, to be fair, it was absolutely stated on here many times that WM had to win the East in 2014 to save his job. In fact, it's not entirely coincidental that once we were officially out of contention, he was dismissed within 24 hours.

Again, I have no problems with criticisms of McElwain. I've taken part in them myself, and continue to point out significant flaws. But if someone wants to take the time to dredge up an ancient thread, I can just about guarantee you a large portion of the fans felt that 2017 was probably the earliest we'd be back to Atl with a shot at the title. I'd further guarantee that almost no one said we'd do it in 2015. And let' not rehash the massive difference between between the beastly SECE in '13 and '14 compared to "15 and '16. There is little difference between the two, and we knew full well how badly the division sucked when those predictions were laid out.

So there are certain things that one can point to and say, "I have a glimmer of hope". I have no idea what to expect anymore from JM's teams, and Saturday night could implode any logical reasoning to keep him. But as I've said before, you can be critical and still recognize some accomplishments.

Ultimately, we're all Gators here and it's the Friday before a game. He's not being fired today or tomorrow, so we might as well hope for the best.

lol ok... its me that is pining for saban ball, while you just love a guy who trys to run the same crap offense as him, but cant recruit, or coach. I will keep hating... on mac. Our team, our school, our fans, and especially these players deserve a hell of a lot better than what he and his cracker jack staff bring to the table. Mac is not UF, sorry you cant understand the distinction.

The numbers have been posted before. Over 7 teams, and spanning 2 full seasons, there is a grand total of 6 games difference between those two time frames. The point margin in the annual West beatdown in Atl averaged 23 points in '13-'14. Alabama's average margin in our 2 games ('15-'16) was 26.

For the 1000th time, no one is hanging their hats on a division title as some career maker accomplishment. But it is, without question, a step in the right direction, and one that most did not anticipate us doing in his first 2 years, even with the East being down. It's really not debatable.
