I love how relatives sign up defend their boy. Is this IP address from Montana or Colorado.

I love how when the facts don't match the narrative you change the subject

Well, it does sound like he's been creeping long enough to have Law's number. ;)

For the recruiting concerns, guys this is Florida. There is talent all around us, much of which watched us as the dominant program as kids. It's no coincidence that our last 3 HCs have all been known as great recruiters. The product sells itself. Even with the worst run in 30 + years, we still managed decent classes in 2011-14. Any competent coach that can come in and win games will recruit just fine. Muschamp's issues weren't due to anything other than our on-field performance. In contrast, Spurrier hated recruiting and did it very arrogantly, and yet we were loaded with talent. Right now, guys like Meyer and Fisher could conduct an entire in-home visit in Portuguese, and they'd land top classes. Put a product out there that kids respect, and they'll come here. That simple.

It goes beyond a direct comparison. The question should also include who can put together the best staff in the least amount of time?

The question should be who could have the most success recruiting, developing talent and scheming against opposing coaches. Both have show the ability, but McElwain has really shown he can take top level talent and average QBs and develop them.

I think Freeze would have the quickest impact in recruiting but JM would have the quickest a impact on the field.

We shouldn't be worried as much as the current recruiting class as much as the next 10 years. If we put up a coherent offense again with a good support staff of coaches regardless of Freeze or McEwain or "insert name here" will be able to recruit the state of Florida. We need to determine who is the best coach for that, not worry about who will bring in this particular class.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

After he left Bama decided they wanted to score points instead.

Colorado St. has the 13th ranked offense this year, averaging 498 ypg. 326 passing, 172 rushing. They also have the #1 receiver in the country in receiving yards with 1,640. They score 36 ppg, good enough for 25th in the country, and a defense that gives up 23 ppg, good enough for 34th in the country. And this is with CSU talent.

I'm not saying he's a hire that would blow my hair back, but he's going to get hired by someone eventually and win a lot of games. My guess is he'll be at a Pac 12 school in a couple years.

So you completely sell us on him, get us all excited with your stats, and then project he'll be a great one for Cal/OrgSt in a couple years.:gah:

I don't think he has quite enough HC experience to come here yet. He does have the SEC experience, though.

He's got three years. UM only had four when he came here.

Yeah, if you look at is as an assistant coach, JM left his job and Bama decided they'd like to actually score points with their next OC.

I think we'd at least try to get an OC who tries to score points and doesn't put the entire stadium and tv audience to sleep.

I can't imagine how far down the list we are if this guy is even being considered. This is Derek Dooleyish.

They averaged approximately 36 pts per game (35.7 I believe is the exact number) his last season at Bama and 35 pts per game (34.8 to be precise).his second to last season.

This year Bama is averaging 36.7 pts per game, almost identical. Don't let the facts get in the way of your argument, though.

At two different schools, including an undefeated season with a BCS bowl win.

I was going to write that recruiting prowess matter, a program needs to have a coach who can leverage its advantages, and one of Florida's biggest advantages, maybe the biggest, is that it's the flagship university of Florida. Oh yeah, and Colorado State hasn't had a recruiting class break the top 50 in team rankings since McDowells has been there.

But then I went back and looked at Utah's team recruiting rankings from when Urban was there. They are pretty comparable to Colorado State's recent rankings. And Urban was known as a great recruiter. So is it fair to say that McDonald's isn't?

Thank you for posting this. Everyone on the mclwain bandwagon is trying to act like the defense wasn't the star of the show when he was at Bama
