I knew I shouldn't have let my teenager have my ETrade account info.
And then I went to sleep for a few hours...
So what's your theory.
Honestly, I don't follow it that much.
I honestly don't know. That said, I do not think it is "tulip bulb mania." I have speculated before that I do think that bitcoin is the new barometer for something bad, like inflation genie out of the bottle or something to do with bond markets or both. We'll see.
Are you buying and have you seen Elvis lately?
I did buy a few and my basis is just over $900. I did it purely as I would a lottery ticket, not as an investment nor store of wealth. We'll see what happens.
Y'all really oughta take an hour and give this a listen...
QUANTITATIVE TIGHTENING AND BITCOIN
I've been neck deep in this stuff for the last 2 months (to the point of taking Princeton's Coursera course on Blockchain) as my company is getting ready to roll out investing tools for people who want to understand and invest in cryptocurrencies without losing the farm.
I will... if it talks about the EU really beginning to tighten, yes, I agree, it’s a big deal. Central Banks only have 1 of 2 choices right now: 1) let the markets tank, or 2) let sovereign bonds go... guess which one it’ll be.
Some people are going to take a big hit eventually. Its never a bubble until it is.
I wanted to buy bitcoin at 1000. I realized, sadly, that it was a way for illegal drug trade etc. to exchange currency without laundering. I was also afraid because of that Governments would shut it down. Both troubled me.
So for now I will go for low cost ETF's or stocks in the hot etf sectors (lockheed martin and boeing for aerospace) I like ITA for an etf in that sector, United (for healthcare) or VHT, Morgan Stanley (for financials) or VFH, retail: would not choose except individual stocks as brick and mortar are dying....Home depot and Wal Mart (for retail) for both retail and consumer discretionary, Unilever, procter and gamble, coca cola for a hedge or VDC (for consumer staples). And I have beat each ETF which has beaten sector for sector every similar mutual fund. For or a S&P 500 index fund for the rest to balance my stock I like MGK (tho there is lots of overlap with every sector mentioned especially FANG) in MGK, still I love it to balance out. Compare any to any mutual fund with .07 versus .5 to 2.0 fund expenses I will take an etf, or better stock pick every time.
But I have a long time horizon (over ten years to retirement..I have time if it dumps like 2008 to come back) . Investing for income when retired...nothing can compare risk versus reward to NRZ. Compared to whitestone who has not changed dividends in years with a lower one, they have raised theirs. Better financials for a reit with higher yield and less risk. Bitcoin is sexy but I am not that willing to step into that arena.
Detroit, have you had a chance to listen to this yet?
No, it's one of my 18 open tabs! I will in the next 24 hours for sure.
Yup... you can see the red square on the tab about 2/3rds of the way across that's your's.
What happens when US raises rates and shrinks its BS next month?
Or are drug runners doing this? Trump towers run its course?
