Interesting where our three prior most popular coaching candidates currently stand recruiting wise.

    Per 247 team ranking:

    2018 TRANSITION CLASS:

    Mullen ranked # 14 (19 signees)
    Kelly ranked #18 (28 signees)
    Frost ranked #23 (24 signees)

    2019 CLASS:
    Mullen ranked # 27 (8 signees)
Kelly ranked not in top#100(0 signees)
    Frost ranked #44 (5 signees)

We are still way early in the 2019 class. We are likely to have much better idea of where the current class is by the end of summer as top recruits try to get things done prior to the upcoming season.

So far Mullen has gotten the best start.

Neither one of the other 2 are really known for recruiting like UF is. What you should be talking about is the fact that Mullen has the lowest average rating for the 19 class since probably before SOS. Even train wreck Mac had a higher average. I've personally never seen it this low with this amount of commits. 3.13 average right now with 8 commits is down right terrible. Plus did anyone on this board think that Frost was gonna pull talent to Nebraka? I sure didnt think he would its Nebraska. I didnt think Kelly would do very well at UCLA either they are in the same city as USC. Both made mistakes by turning us down.

Ucla's recruiting is a complete fook-up. One ucla site celebrated because a 4 star corner listed them in his top 14. We are headed into June and they still have no commits. It is embarrassing.

On their transition class Mullen did better than Spurrier, Muschamp, Mac and Meyer did.

You are correct that Mullen is behind former UF coaches in the first full class(2019). Mullen is ahead of Kelly and Frost for 2018 and 2019. Mullen certainly was not pressing for commitments at the most recent UF recruiting event. Seems like he was just trying to build relationships.

The 247 analyst said we will have a better idea on the 2019 class at the end of summer when top recruits start narrowing down.

Can you please provided the source data as proof that Mullen's class as better than Spurriers... seems it would have been a little before most recruiting services rankings.

If you go to the Gator breakdown videos on YouTube analyzing the transition class they cover that for you.

Very true for many top recruits. Mullen has only been here 6 months. He was at UF earlier than Frost was at Nebraska but later than Kelly was at UCLA for the transition class.

I was being facetious. Saying you have to give your coach 3-4 years to develop relationships is utter crap. How many million a year is Mullen making? You get your transition class as a pass, but after that your grace period is over.

Saban and Meyer start hitting the top recruits young. Seems to work for them in recruiting rankings. They make more millions than Mullen and they start hitting the top recruits young.

I did not say give Mullen 3 to 4 years to build a relationship but that is when the top rated recruiters start. We got Emory Jones recently in part because Mullen was the first coach to offer Emory a scholarship.

I don't care how he does it (short of getting us in hot water) just as long as he brings in the blue chippers. Emulating Saban and Meyer as good a plan as any just so long as he gets similar results when the LOI are in.

Getting similar results to Saban and Meyer after being at UF for only 6 months is difficult. They have a huge head start and more national championships under their belt. Ole Miss was able to to do it but the NCAA brought a stop to that. Kirby had a good second class but he was side by side with Saban meeting those recruits years prior.

Yeah, I don't expect him to beat those guys in the final 2019 rankings, but there is no excuse for any team in the SEC not named Alabama, Georgia or LSU to have a better recruiting class than us starting now. That's his job, not to continue down the path of of 3 star U.

Agree. Mac was lazy. Mullen wants a national championship and wants the top recruits. It is not unusual for top recruits to want to see how Mullen does his first season at UF. Hard for a new coach to take the top recruits away early summer from the top teams.

I could care less if he beats out Kelly and Frost. I want him to beat out teams in the SEC and our rivals and right now he's 10th in the SEC and hes behind both Miami and FSU that's what's important.

I understand the sentiment. But, we haven’t been in serious contention for so many top guys since 2011-2012. A lot of kids arent committing any time soon.

Look for the class to get a big bump with summer commitments from Pittman, Billingsley, and possibly Steele. Some really good OL recruits are shutting it down too. We just haven’t been fortunate to have top targets want to end it yet.

Hard for new head coach to get early summer commitments from the top recruits (which Mullen wants) after a 4-7 season. The top recruits likely want to see what the new coach can do at UF. Not unusual for top recruits to wait.

If Taggart screws up as a field coach (like he has before)he could lose some of his early commitments.
