So a minority kills a white woman in CA and gets acquitted.

    That's never happened.....

Better sweep that one under the rug, after all, whites are the most violent race in history. We need to be thinned out a bit I guess, make America safer.

From a human perspective, 1st and 2nd degree murder charges were a joke and typical bad DA overreach... not getting some form of manslaughter is disappointing.

From a political perspective, this makes CA and sanctuary cities look even loonier.

Not really, pointing a gun at people numerous times and oullingnthe trigger lands youna 1st degree charge in almost every other state.

Not in Kalifornia where the criminal illegal alien is almost as celebrated as a transexual hollywooder.

Bring Federal charges. For one thing, felon in possession of a firearm (what they convicted him of) is a serious Federal crime yet only merits a handslap in Kalifornia.

Yes it was. But I think this guy just claimed that he found it somewhere.

You have to wonder what happened here? Was the prosecution completely inept -- or was this a case of jury nullification? They were out deliberating some time so you have to wonder how they came to such a strange conclusion.

California doesn't allow the jury to consider manslaughter as an alternative to murder? Pretty sure in Florida the Judge usually gives the jury the option to nail the defendant for a lesser charge if the circumstances could fit that charge also.

So the DA screwed up and did not leave an out to hang him? Over-reached on the charges?

I'm with ya, but as you point out, it was Kalifornia and the narrative was, "poor immigrant found weapon wrapped in shirt, picked it up, it fired itself, skipped off the pavement, and accidentally killed someone."

Even with the circumstances there is no excuse whatsoever for not finding him guilty of involuntary manslaughter. It almost sounds like the jury did it for political reasons.

They could and may have already and lost but if they haven't it would never survive in the appeal courts probably even if they won their case with a jury.

I heard the lawyer claim that there were a couple of things that there are required for manslaughter that were not there. After all she got shot when the bullet bounced quite a bit, that I did not know. Why we don't already have Kate's law at the federal level is another great question as to what the congress does.
