Of course we can not see who UF's second and third round opponents would be, but UF is the top rated team in the South bracket via Kenpom rankings.

BTW, also via Kenpom rankings the West is brutal and the Midwest is by far the easiest. Here is the sum of Kenpom rankings for the 4 brackets where the toughest possible bracket would include the top 4 teams, ie 1+2+3+4 = 10.

East: 35
South: 47
Midwest: 60
West: 25 (The West included the Kenpom's 1st, 2nd and 3rd rated teams.)

In theory if the were doing the S curve, the brackets, should each total 34 ranking points whether your take the Kenpom or AP or RPI or Sagrin rankings. To me that says the Midwest is way out of wack.

We did a good job winning today because Vandy is getting beat by 17 at Missouri....their advanced metrics will drop and ours will a little as well because they beat us at home

Seems like Missouri figured out how to play basketball after we got through with them.

I'm with you, 2222. And look at the West, with undefeated Gonzaga!

Other than the South, the Midswest is next easiest, IMO. Zona's a paper tiger that got off to a good start against week OOC teams and play in a weak conference. Duke and FSU are playing no better than us right now.

Gotta disagree here. The projected west is an absolute joke. Gonzaga, west Virginia and Virginia are pretty soft. Even the only team in that region that scares me wich is Oregon, they always get knocked out early. Any one of those top 4 seeds in the midwest are capable of winning it all. None of the top 4 in the projected west could win it imo. And please dont say Gonzaga could.

They were ~6-30 for 3pters. Didn't make a FG or only 1 FG in the last 12:30 of the game

Yikes. I guess it's not too surprising to see a team so heavily relying on the 3 ball have games like this.

Fair enough. Still find it weird to see VA and WVU in the West and UCLA in the East. I thoght they implemented something a few years ago to keep teams closer to home if they could.

So what is the best case going forward without Egbunu?

I am thinking a 4 seed is probably best case as of now (could change depending on how we play without Egbunu).

@ Mississippi St.
South Carolina
@ Kentucky
Arkansas
@ Vandy

I see us ending like this as of now

@ Mississippi St.- L, first game needing to adjust and maybe a tad worn out emotionally

South Carolina- W, we regroup and come out with the intensity needed to take down SC.

@ Kentucky- L, we hang close but ultimately the big man disadvantage and the Rupp crowd may do us in here

Arkansas- W, we starting hitting our stride and play well defensively

@ Vandy- W, we get revenge for the bad loss at home

Overall 24-7. I think this would put us toward the Top 4 seed and maybe 3 seed range depending on other teams wins. Not sure if this is too optimistic or not. I think Saturday will show us where we are at for the remainder of the regular season. Hopefully we come out and take it to Mississippi St

I doubt the committee makes too much of UF's losing a guy who plays about 22 minutes a game and contributes less than 8 points and less than 7 rebounds a game unless UF collapses down the stretch. I know his size in the middle is really important for UF defensively, but I suspect the committee does not know UF that well.

I do not see the loss at Mississippi State that you think might happen. I worry even more about Vandy now.
