It's pretty simple and that's how you pronounce it. Why is it so hard and still incorrectly pronounced by so many? The only acceptable pronunciation of the state is “Nev-AD-a,” not “Nev-AH-da.” Pronouncing the state’s name incorrectly can draw ire among residents, especially if you’re a politician.

When I lived in Oregon, they got all sensitive about the pronunciation of their state too. I would butcher it on purpose every chance I got.

My favorite was "oar gone".

I would never say Ne-va-da instead of Ne-vah-da, anymore than I would Lass Vee gass instead of Lahs Vay gahs. I speak enough Soanish to know the proper pronunciation. I dont really GAF if you transplanted New Jersians dont have a clue.
