There are capybaras in Florida, and have been for years.

You're correct 812. There are less than a 100 in N. Florida. Odd thing is that most of those spring from a line of capybaras that escaped from a Gainesville study group. They are herbivores, so doubtful that they impact the environment, unless positively as food for the dwindling Florida panther. Nothing else is big enough to eat them, except Gators. Their meat is said to be delicious.
