You're right. It' so weird that so many players come back as GAs when they should obviously just be hired as coaches. We have a quality control that played QB in the NFL so I'm assuming you think he should be passing game coordinator over Billy Gonzales, right. I also think we should definitely bring back someone like Matt Jones to be rb coach over seider!! I mean playing success has always been a direct predictor of a good coach...

Both would be great but if I had to pick one I'd take QBU over DBU.

One great QB every 10-20 years doesn't make you QBU by a long shot. The good news is we're almost due for our next one.

I'm not so sure we had a guy running free on a punt block, bc of motivation...But seriously, I agree with what you're saying to an extent. I think that got players to focus during practice, but I also think he's a great ST coach.

    Every 10 to 20 years?

    Reaves
    Bell
    Matthews
    Dean
    Danny
    Grossman
    Leak
    Tebow
    Cam
    Grier

You’re right. We only have a good quarterback about every 10 to 20 years…

And since @ltraz liked that post - Why don’t the two of you let us know what university has had a better string of quarterbacks over the last 30 years. And name the quarterbacks.

Miami definitely had better quarterbacks in the 80s. Their last really good quarterback was probably Ken Dorsey.

Of course it is a case by case basis.

Above is the list of 3 time pro-bowlers at CB. I think this is the best website to look up these stats, but it included some safeties and even Julio Jones.

Not saying that I would just plug any of them in there. But there are several that I would choose over any Grad Asst that anyone had.

I think we all would take Dick LeBeau right off the playing field, right?

Surtain would be a major uprgade over bell. Bell coached one year in college at fau. Surtain was an nfl pro bowler that probably comes with 5 blue chip recruits.

Let's face it, this year was hard on all of us, some more than others. Whether or not you're ready for a Christmas Vacation or not, life goes on.

We have a NFL probowl qb on staff? Didn't think so. Context is everything. To a hopefully great staff and some great last minute recruiting! For some reason I feel the season is just starting vs just ended.

    Go Gators.

I don't remember strongly one way or the other on STs, I do strongly remember he was a good recruiter. I don't think he was irreplaceably good at either position.

Tons of big programs have had just as much, if not, more QB success. We've been very good, but QBU would indicate the best to me and I don't think we're in that discussion. I'd wager that if you asked 100 football fans that weren't Gators who QB is or used to be not one would say UF.

Even lebeau started as a ST coach. I also wouldn't compare going from NFL player to NFL position coach for the reasons I listed.

With this roster of misfits that nobody worth a sh*t wanted? :lmao2:
It will be 2-3 yrs before we're competitive with UGA or anyone else with a pulse. Mac and Shannon ROYALLY f*ck up our roster and it will take at least 2 cycles of top 5 classes to fix most of the issues and 3 for us to be considered a National power again. Mullen has his work cut out for him!

Sure. That's my only concern with the Zooker. It's been a long time, but after he got demoted from DC did he have a position group? I honestly don't remember. I'm not sure there's any position coach I'd want him replacing - but he does have multiple seasons in the NFL doing the job, so I'm certain he's probably gleaned enough about the kicking game not to make it useless for him to specialize.

I know you're not saying the following, but it sounds like you're saying the following:

Dick LeBeau couldn't hack it as a college coach.

I'm just saying case by case.

He's been a DB coach and id be cool with giving him safeties in this scheme as long as we get a very good CB coach. The other easy spot now is WR
