Franks actually has a future at Florida... McElwain fcked with this kid, pulling him when all he did was execute a flawed game plan multiple times. Now you look how poorly our OL played, our skill positions played, do you really want a kid to get physically damaged that still has potential just so the one year rental is safe?

I prefer Zaire to stay the starter. I like Franks. I don't want him getting killed behind a line that has quit and developing even more bad habits under this staff.

If I was the coach, I would position it as protecting him. As for Zaire, it’s his last year anyway.

I agree that it's risky playing him, but I'm just saying there are also some drawbacks worth considering. Which of course all gets back to Nussmeier having no business cleaning toilets at UF, let alone coaching the offense.

Plus it's hard to inspire a desire to play for pride when you're essentially writing off the rest of the season by playing the dead end QB.

I just don't know if Franks can have more confidence/mental damage, than what McElwain and Nuss have already done... might need to just sit him down and let him hit the reset.

Which would be most appreciated by everyone involved, and would garner Shannon the most respect.

"We can win with Malik, who is in his last year of ball. Franks is still a young guy, let's let him develop more."

Just selecting Malik outright without obvious reason, just doesn't pass muster in the eyes of most. Even the media kept questioning him to give more evidence as to "why Malik?"

Maybe he had the discussion internally?

Hopefully, otherwise more complaining from Franks will make the news.

Nice to know that somebody else sees the games I see. Your comments about Chauncey are exactly what I have been saying since last January. Dumb luck does not a good player make.
This reminds me of the Super Bowl the Bucs won years ago. They gave the MVP to some second rate DB that had two passes fall into his hands. You or I could have caught both of them. Even funnier is when another team gave him a fortune in free agency only to discover that they paid a Kings Ransom for a role player.

I agree with you completely on this one.

Here is another piece of this....typically when you have a change like this and the interim opens up the competition for key roles like QB, this results in renewed energy throughout the team. Example, Mr. Zaire clearly believes that he should have been playing all of this time instead of Franks. I assumed that maybe some of his teammates agreed and that they would demonstrate some renewed energy and focus to support the guy they thought should be the starter. Clearly the team doesn't care who the QB is either.

Nobody expected a transformation in 5-6 days no more than we expected a complete collapse in 5-6 days.

LOTS of character "opportunities" on this team for the next guy that accepts the challenge

I agree with you but unfortunately, Zaire has another year and he and LDR will come back next year assuming that they, and they alone are competing for the job. The reality is that the Gatornation wants neither of them to be the starter

I never expected him to look like VHIII. I did however expect him to play hard and not become a spectator in the middle of a play.

So here's a question: Randy isn't auditioning for this HC job, but ultimately he is auditioning for wherever he lands next. So, what's better for him in the eyes of an Athletic Director - benching the players who gave up/showing he can dish-out discipline or motivating they guys that quit and convincing them to play for pride?

I don't like to pick on a specific player but I cannot resist this time so please let me know your thoughts on this because I am dumbfounded by it.

    Deandre Goolsby.

When he was a freshman, he couldn't block or run proper routes or even catch very well but.....once he had the ball in his hands, he was dangerous. He could avoid tacklers and even break tackles and always seemed to get 15 yards out of a 7-8 year reception. Although I acknowledged that he had lots of development as a player in front of him, I raved about the potential he had. I even stated that he reminded me of the serial killer when he had the ball.
Now four years have gone by and Goolsby cannot block, cannot run good routes, and cannot catch very well. Due to the continued deterioration of the offense, he doesn't even get his hands on the ball anymore. Is this a function of an inept coaching staff not developing a player or another underachieving player that lacked the commitment to truly get better or both?

If we hire Frost, I fully expect him to tell both of those transfer QBs to grab a clipboard, and enjoy the rest of their free education from the sideline.

Other than Gardner early in the year, no player has been worse in a Gator uni, and I have often criticized him for it.

But he plays his tail off......

Striklin likes Shannon, wouldn't doubt he is kept in some capacity at UF.

Outside of one or two players, no one can run proper routes. If you don't run proper routes, how do you expect a QB to trust you are going to be where you should be on any given play. The lack of attention to detail that has plagued the last two football staffs at Florida is horrifying.
