Have we considered him for our next coach?

Actually, the reason I started this thread was because I recently saw "A Football Life" about Terrell Davis, who is holding a grudge towards Goff to this day. He says when he had an injury he wasn't allowed to stand on the sideline with the team. Instead, he was given nosebleed seats so he could watch the game with the fans. Have you ever heard of that?

He also says Goff bashed him to NFL scouts, hurting his draft stock.

Did that dolt have any redeeming qualities?

As a Gator fan, his redeeming quality was his inability to coach.

The UGA faithful were easily as loud about Dumping Gump, a.k.a. Ray Goof as UF is about canning Muschamp. Interestingly, they both played at UGA.

I once shared an elevator with Goff in Gainesville of all places. It was well after his coaching career was over and we were both on business. I think he was a rep for some sporting goods company but that’s just a guess from looking at some of the stuff he was carrying. Just imagine the fall from grace from being the head coach of a major college program to giving a sales demonstration on how your company’s athletic supporter cup hugs a guys balls better than your competitors.

Agreed. I don't recall how long he was the head coach, but they hung onto him at least 1 or 2 seasons too long.

I remember calling him Ray Goof. I will never forget the 1990 game vs. UGAly. Total domination by UF and the DAWGS being owned by Spurrier.

He was my favorite Dawg coach of all time...he actually found ways to lose, especially to us! Sadly, Dawg fans are feeling the same way about Muschamp.

Reminds me of a certain Gator coach who got a job in a bank, cleaning toilets and spending saturday's in a chicken costume holding a sign that reads "We'll give you $100 bucks if you open a checking account with us"

One more thing on WM's temper.

There is no doubt he is a decent defensive coach. You can scream at
defensive players coming off of the field and it doesn't effect them
a lot. They may get a little mad and tackle a little better.

But when an offensive player is coming off of the field and you grit your
teeth, cross your eyes and scream at him, it seems to discombobulate
him more so. It took time but eventually got to a lot of good offensive
players on our team. I look for these same players to react positively
with a coach on the sidelines that actually encourages them through
their mistakes, instead of an idiot making faces at you. We could have
a quicker recovery than most think.

I would love to play a video of WM's actions on the sidelines to WM
himself and tell him that was his new football coach. The two would
get in a fist fight. I am surprised he hasn't punched someone. It may
happen Saturday.

Are you saying you are not a fan of Muschamp's temper?

I thought he was our current coach.

Offense looked the same in 2012 and every other time the HC gets nervous.

I want to say that that coach is now the DC of the Packers. I stand corrected, I just looked it up. He's the Assistant Special Teams for the Pack. He's not even the Special Teams Coordinator, but hey, at least he's back in coaching. This is his first year with the Pack, his first year coaching since leaving Illinois at the end of 2011.

My brother-in-law was a starting DT on those UGA teams that Goff QB'd back in the 70s. He said that Goff's a great guy, he just wasn't cut out for the HC position.

He's also the team janitor. The Packers were much more impressed with his janitorial resume than his coaching resume.

Illinois should have kept the Zooker. At least he got them to the Rose Bowl. Now they are back to being horrible.

The Goof/Matt Robinson combo may be the first time I remember watching a two QB system. Dooley owned us for awhile, but not like SOS owned UGA!

They were horrible when he left. Hell, they went 5-7 in the year following that fluke Rose Bowl appearance.

My neighbor was a coach at UCF and went to go coach at Illinois a couple years ago because he wanted to get back to a major conference. I imagine he’s regretting that right about now.
