Doesn't rivals undermine their own ranking system with this story? If your system works the way it should, then the best class outside of the top 10 should be ranked 11, right?

The ranking system is just an approximation, we all know that. They admit it.

There is no point system that will be able to gauge "fit" amd "meeting needs". This is subjective, but one knows its a problem if you start seeing 4-7 DB/athletes like Chimp and Slick Willy Urkel.

It is easy to see when the class has a high gpa and IMO it is a great sign, especially in a transition class.

After this class is plugged in, the guys returning from suspension get back, and IF all 4 transfers are eligible, we will be more talented across the board than we've been in quite a while. Still not quite championship level in all likelihood, but decidedly better. A good to very good showing on the field this year, especially on offense, could lead to a windfall on the recruiting trail next year. I really like where we seem to be headed.

If Mullen gains the respect of the recruiting world, his interest will tend to bolster a player’s rating.

Funny, but neither answered the actual question as to which freshman would have the biggest impact. They each talked about overall classes.

The rules are different. You can't just take any amount today. Transfers are "initial counters" also now. They weren't then. People were taking 31 new recruits, adding 5 jucos and a transfers too. Not today.

That class was 27 total. The 5 3* guys included Brandon James, Markih Anderson, Mo Hurt (one of the great football names EVER), and Lawrence Marsh. Derrick Robinson was the only total whiff. That’s actually a pretty solid (if small) batch of 3* players. You can’t build your team on them but you do want to choose them well when filling out a class.

The lone 2* was Wondy and even he had some success on special teams (and a great back story.)

But didn’t he cause a critical fumble on a punt vs. LSU? And he recovered one for a TD in the SECCG. I remember him being a pretty consistent torpedo that way. Never was good at coverage, despite having the speed & athleticism. His story of getting through high school with his brother & finding his way to UF was pretty great.

Looking for news on him: He was arrested in 2010 for choking his girlfriend of 3 years after catching her in bed with another guy. But she disputed the charges later. And he has a fashion line that he promotes to his 538 Twitter followers.

Funny enough, I actually lived next door to Marsh in '08. Good neighbor and a nice guy.
