Has Mullen confirmed his S&C staff yet? I've had to be away for work the past few days and hadn't seen anything on it. Any info out there? Are we hiring another guy that looks like he oughta be teaching Astrophysics or going with someone a bit more vascular?

At least he looks like every GNC employee ever vs a California surfer dad.

This is one aspect of the program I'm confident Mullen won't eff up. I know this was a big focus of Scott Stricklin.

I hope you're right. Scheme doesn't mean much if we aren't strong/fast enough to execute. I'm not sure anyone could have coached this years team to more than mediocre success based on physical strength.

I'd just call Shannon Turley (Stanford S&C) and ask who his top young guy is. The results they've gotten there are insane. If there's nothing there I'd talk to a few outside sources like NSCA (the organization that gives out CSCS certs), Exos (big sports performance company that does a lot of NFL combine prep), etc and get a real opinion. I'd be curious to know if a new S&C coach also pushes for some of our medical to change. The fact that we have people go over from OSMI (next to the gym) is silly.

I would like to look at incorporating some of the Kelly methods that he used at the Eagles, it would cost some but with some of our more injury prone players might benefit them and us.

Kelly got the pub, bc of who he is, but plenty of team are using the same or similar to track volume, recovery, etc. Companies like Catapult are used by the majority of big sports programs now. I bet you can guess the one in Florida they didn't list as one of their clients last time I looked. I guess since they didn't need it at csu they didn't need it at UF... Basically, it wouldn't be that hard (or expensive) to at least make the jump to good and on par with most of the other programs. Dillman got a bad name, bc of his over-the-top behavior and association with muschamp, but I thought we were on the right path there. Hire a motivator and then do what ND did and hire a guy just for sports science (also from IMG ironically) that can bridge disciplines. Independent sports performance (like the new UFC performance Institute for example) knows that this is the only formula (connecting disciplines with true science) and wouldn't dream of doing what programs like us have been doing.

Florida: Sources tell FootballScoop Dan Mullen has now offered Mississippi State head strength coach Nick Savage the same role at Florida. Savage has accepted, we are told. Mullen promoted Savage from assistant to head strength coach before the 2016 season

Is this an aspect of the program that you are just particularly interested in or does it somehow connect with what you do for a living? Very interesting and a lot of good information here.

Well, he certainly seems invested. Made me want to run to the gym and I haven't even finished my coffee yet.
