What's your favorite period? Mine is 1967-69, during which time the band's writings turned social and political and its sound more experimental. It was also a period marked by the death of founding member Brian Jones, who plays sitar and tamboura on this '68 classic, which also features sessionist Nicky Hopkins on keyboards.

I'd rate Let It Bleed the Stones' best album overall. Not a bad song on either side.

I'm going to go with the late 70's - specifically 'Some Girls'.
'Before They Make Me Run' was one of my all time favorites.
That album was more of a return to the kick ass stuff from the period you mention above.
The pedal steel guitar on 'Far Away Eyes' also killed me... love that song.

We made the run down from Tallahassee my senior year to see them at the CiTrUs Bowl in Orlando in '81.
We were right in front. The Stones knocked it out of the park.

Gimme Shelter is one of my favorite songs, all time. The movie haunts me. Best background vocals maybe ever, and at a terrible cost.

Some Girls came out the summer before my senior year in high school, so it’s part of my soundtrack.

It’s tough, but I like their bluesy roots & early stuff best

That's real early stuff. They're trying to sound like Chuck Berry.

Period? Im not that into them to be able to divide it all.

My favorite song is Tumbling Dice with many of the old favorites close behind , Brown Sugar, Honkey Tonk woman. So that or those era(s).

The more bluesish the guitar the better.

Sticky Fingers. That was an apex for them. Great album.

Yeah, Biitch is top 5 also. Shelter, PIB and Sympathy round it out. Mothers Helper, 19th Breakdown, JJF and all that era are ok, just not what I find myself playing much. A bit too Beatlish for me.

Another one from Let It Bleed. It featured a new twist for the band, horns and chorus. Great old tune.

High Tides and Green Grass is probably my favorite-raw Stones

Angie, Wild Horses, Mothers Little Helper -a dark rocker, Start Me Up individual favs

For serious blues the Howling Wolf Sessions-Red Rooster and Wang Dang Doodle

                Clapton plays here as well

BTW, Law, I should have mentioned Exile on Main Street, too, since you mentioned Tumbling Dice. That was 1971-72.

Mick Taylor had replaced Brian Jones on lead guitar. By far the best guitarist the Stones had. I liked Ronnie Wood but he was no Mick Taylor.

Girl with Far Away Eyes from Some Girls. I like the early to mid-70's period the best.

Rats on the west side, bed bugs up town. Bite the Big Apple, don't mind the maggots ....Shattered.

This. Let it Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main Street are my favorite Stones albums. The guitar work is fantastic!

68-71 for me as my two favorite RS albums are Beggars Banquet and Sticky Fingers.
