This article pretty much confirms what a lot have said over the last 8 seasons or so, that the brand name of UF has taken a hit in the eyes of those who matter the most, recruits. As of right now, the Gator brand is 3rd in the state according to these rankings. I’m hoping that CDM has the juice to put this program back where it belongs

    Why it matters.

"Everyone who follows college football surely has an opinion on every program and, consciously or unconsciously, has their own personal ranking system comprised of all the brands. However, a middle-aged man probably has a different, more favorable perception of a once-gloried program than a young teenager who never witnessed a winning season. Rather, the lifeblood of a college program lies in the minds of high school football players. These rankings show us the critical hierarchy of schools within recruits’ minds. This is the closest thing to the NCAA’s version of the NFL draft. The teams at the top of these rankings will get the first picks and the teams at the bottom of the rankings will get the leftovers."

That's a interesting way to look at things, especially the quote from Mr. SEC.

How the hell is Alabama ranked lower than UF, Michigan State, FSU, LSU, Miami? Or 18 other teams????

Good point. Also, I think people are getting tired of Bama (like the Pats) and are happy to see Clemson, UGA, and others compete. But you'd think that Ohio State would be in the same category. I wonder, outside of Gainesville, if anyone sees how full of sh*t Meyer is. I know he's a great coach, but his schtick is tired and played (it would seem) by most outside of Columbus.

Obviously it takes time to compile a list like this so I’d have to asume it happened in the last year before info came out about Mich st. Although I guess some recruits like environments where they can pillage and rape with little resistance from the authorities, i.e. Free Shoes University

You should read the whole thing, then comment. I read it about a week ago. It is about 10 paragraphs, I am sure you can finish it.

Honestly with how much our football program has sucked lately, I'm surprised it's as high as it is.

The only thing I needed to read was your dumb post likening it to the NFL draft.

Alcoholica still butthurt over having his ass handed to him two weeks ago.

This is a bogus poll because the sampling size was only 224 recruits. Also who were these recruits? Where do they live? If you asked 224 recruits in the state of Alabama which schools had the best brands the result would be 1. Alabama 2. Auburn. If this kind of poll is to have any validity then you have to have a larger sampling size plus you have to poll on the basis of the demographics of the school in question. For example, Alabama doesn't recruit the state of Washington so if you are Alabama you don't care what some recruit in Washington cares about which schools he thinks has cool uniforms.

I think if you really reread that you'll see it meant the teams at the top of the COLLEGE list get first pick, not the NFL draft....

Edit: At least that's the way I interpreted it...

Which makes it the inverse of the NFL draft.

Excellent point, Joe, and pretty basic to any statistics class. I'm not going to put a lot of value in the results of this poll without knowing how representative the sample (224) is of the entire population to which the poll is directed (millions). Without that information, it is, at best, nothing more than mildly interesting clickbait.

I would just call it a sampling right? If the Gators were at the top of the list at the hieght of Tebow era none of you would question the methodology
