This had nothing to do with the paper's commitment to delivering "quality content" nor (laugh out loud) the ridiculously implied impact of "disruptive" posters. No, this was the Sun gambling that it can transition more online traffic into advertising dollars via Facebook than GSMB. The irony in this is the length of time they felt the goodbye message needed to be left up. They already had the traffic they sought, they simply couldn't figure out how to transition it into cash.

They will not truly feel the hit until the Football Season is in full swing. Right now they are not losing much, it will be in the fall when they will really see the hit.

I've only been on the Gatorsports pages to read Zach's articles. I used to read a lot of their articles. So at least in my case, they are certainly losing 20 hits per day...

I do read the Gainesville Sun home page and some articles, however I do so without a subscription...
