They were Applebies, Chilies, Red Robin, before the people were quite ready for it. Way overpriced, but decent food while you had a drink or two waiting on the ladies to finish their shopping.

Haven't eaten at one since the one in Gville in the early 90s. Haven't seen one since then either. Monte Christo sandwich sounds good though.

Was always way too much sugar for me, tried it once, got sick from all the sugar and syrup. We used to have one here, it closed. But they are building another one now on the beach side.

Recently re-opened. New restaurants, new menu, just using the name.

But they did keep the Monte Cristo on the new menu.

I never liked all the powdered sugar either. I just liked the egg-battered bread and the cheesy ham-sammich (and preferred mayo over syrup).
