THREE GATORS EARN ALL-AMERICA HONORS

GAINESVILLE, Fla.—Three Florida pitchers were recognized on Wednesday for their standout performances in 2017.

Sophomore Michael Byrne was named a First Team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Perfect Game. Junior Alex Faedo (pictured, right) earned Second Team All-America honors from the NCBWA and sophomore Jackson Kowar received Honorable Mention All-America honors from Perfect Game.

Byrne broke the school record for saves in a single season, totaling 16 saves as Florida prepares for the College World Series this weekend. He has a 1.83 earned run average and 84 strikeouts to just 15 walks.

Faedo leads the weekend rotation with a 2.55 earned run average and has limited opponents to a .221 batting average. His career record of 26-6 is the best in school history for players with at least 20 decisions.
