Actually a smart move by him. His glass back wasn't going to hold up to 1 more hit. If he wants to keep playing golf it's better he quit now.

Great move by him, I was hoping he would retire. His body got beaten up by some truly horrible Cowboy Offensive lines in the late 00's. He is a guy who knows football, and should do well in the booth. Now he can work on his golf game and see how the PGA will handle him for a few events a year.

He's taken all thise hits because he wouldn't get rid of the damn ball. You can't run around like that in the nfl.

He cause some of his own hit, but he played behind some undertalent, bad lines. Especially when the team had so much dead money from the contracts overwrote in 07/08.

Retired, but I can't understand why he is getting released unless it has something to do with the cap or pay. It seems like folks sign a one day contract to retire with a team. Now I think he is smart, he is somewhat old, injury prone, probably has plenty of money, and can earn more on TV. Why continue unless you want to coach eventually and that does not always work out and is a head ache to boot. Good for him.

Romo was working with Stephen Jones, and told Stephen jones according to NFL network to wait on releasing him because of the offers he got from Fox and CBS. The Jones gave teams the option to give Romo a physical and start contract talks with Romo's agents a little while ago. I'm all for bashing Jerry in most cases, but Stephen Jones was doing as Romo asked in this case (which Romo has confirmed according to both NFL network and Adam Schefter).

Unless they designate him on the retired or post June 1st date, I the only thing they are are hook for is signing/guaranteed money for 2017.
