A trillionish dollar deficit, so Obama-esque.

Well, he was a Democrat for the first 70 years of his life and you know damn well that half of the Pubs are liberal dems at heart also

Funny, I’m a registered Independent, didn’t vote for Trump, voted for the Dem against Republican Matt Gaetz in the House race, and I’m a conservative, so, cool story bro...

What is there to defend? Republicans and Conservatives talk a good game, but every time they get into power, they blow out the deficit.

Republicans talk a good game... but keep conflating them with conservatives, it works for you. That said, you’re correct about liberals being democrats, their votes prove it... just as the true conservatives’ votes prove they aren’t in lockstep with Republicans... but keep being you

          1. When a Democrat is in the White House, Republicans claim to be terribly concerned about deficits, using all kinds of apocalyptic language about the nightmarish future we’re leaving to our children. This is a technique they use to extract cuts in domestic programs that they don’t like anyway.
          2. The moment a Republican president takes office, most Republicans immediately stop pretending to be concerned about the deficit, arguing that we should just pass their priorities — tax cuts, the occasional war — with no attempt whatsoever to pay for them.

Not a single conservative I know would disagree with you, myself included. As I said, it looks like 2006 Redux right now.

So, given your chart, how do you explain the fact that, in eight years, Obama ran up deficits equal to the total debt run up in the entire prior history of the nation?

I have no idea what figures you are actually displaying -- Obama is the reigning King of deficits by any rational measure.

I think it is important to point out that, while there are some Republicans who are concerned about fiscal discipline and responsible spending, there are no Democrats who are.

It's nearly comical watching people attempt to distinguish between $0.2 trillion dollars over 8 years.

            Reality is difficult sometimes.

Why is that so important? I expect socialists to be fiscally irresponsible. What's the R's justification for this budget and their excuse for acting like Democraps?

            It's infuriating.

Yes it is. But don't you remember back in 2006 when the Democrats ran of fiscal responsibility and got control of both Houses of Congress? And remember what happened to spending after Reid and Pelosi were in charge?

I don't care what those two did.

Trump ran on draining the swamp and changing Washington.

His 2018 budget empowers the swamp-people to continue their addiction, and further damn our future. He wimped out.

            Very disappointing.

"Draining the swamp" means a lot more than reducing wasteful Federal expenditures which are, at the end of the day, more a responsibility of Congress and not the president.

Close your eyes and envision how things would be had Hillary Clinton been elected.

Dude. I would abhor a Clinton presidency as much as any American who's breathing.

But that has ZERO significance to the reality that Trump failed as POTUS and leader of the R party to be fiscally responsible.

It's akin to comparing the two drunks who each crashed their cars killing themselves and their passengers - does it really matter which bar they departed and the slight differences in how much each one drank?

There is some truth to this, but it doesn't help his position if he is championing this budget. Trump has a lot of work to do, and this bill does fail on some of the promises me made. But those promises really were not in his hands to make either (for the very reason you mention above).

If this is going to be the argument every time someone questions Trump, then Trump has failed. We should be talking about what-if it was the other guy, we should be talking about his legacy. This is a fools argument at this point.

Republicans are the stupid party. You seem to be anxious to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Perhaps you plan to sit out the 2018 and/or 2020 elections since Trump has failed to be perfect in every way according to what you expected.

Democrats are the evil party but they never give up and are never discouraged or disheartened. Any defeat is merely temporary. Obama never delivered on much of what he promised but he continued to get full support. Hillary Clinton, a criminal who rigged the nomination for herself in 2016 got full support.
