I am assuming Ancrum and Langham and Carter at DE along with Shuler and maybe Polite. We have a lot of depth at DT/NT.

Conliffe will be a starter at end, I expect.

At 317 lbs? If he can move laterally...
Absolutely.

Again, you are stuck in 4-3 think. Think of these DEs as DTs. The OLBs are really the ones who set the edge. Think of it as a 5-2 with the ends standing, that is what it is at the most basic level.

And, yes, Eli is more than fast enough. What you should be think both this year and last year is do these 235-250 pound DEs have enough ass to take on a 315 lb SEC OT, the answer to which you saw last year was "not even close".

Maybe in running downs.

Exactly, this is really a defense with a nose guard and two defensive tackles. The stand up DEs can either rush or drop into coverage.

That is almost every down in the SEC.

i agree third and long they may bring some flyweights out.

When The Choker was at Ugly his three linemen were all well over 300 lbs. The NT was like 355.

So what's the consensus here? Do we still want to string this kid up by his toenails and castrate him?

I said a page or two back there was a lot of crow to be eaten in this thread! Especially w/ the Mullen bashing (implying he couldn't seal the deal).

Here's the man himself:

This is how the D lined up in the spring - obviously it will change for down and distance:

-------------- SDE ------ NT -------- 3T-------------------
CB ---------------------------------------------RE-------CB
---------NB --------------------------------------------------
------------------ILB--------------ILB-----------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------S---------------------S-------------------
