Interesting. The players are at least talking about us playing Martez Ivey at RT from day one. I like Rod Johnson at guard. He looked like our second best lineman last year. I don't know why he wasn't playing. I wont be surprised if he is AllSEC.

I'm not also sure what that says about our other six guys.

I cant imagine TT "resting his shoulder" for eight months, presumably not practicing or lifting, and being ready to play.

If he arrives in shape, it would be hard to not insert in the line. Every body counts and he is probably just as talented as anyone else on the Oline. I would think the only question would be if he picks up the schemes and assignments as to whether he starts.

Great!!! An undersized tackle playing as a freshman. He needs to gain at least 20 pounds to even be useful which isn't likely to happen. While he'll play due to lack of depth, don't expect him to be any good while under weight as he is going to get muscled repeatedly.

If the OL has the potential to suck anyway, then why not?

He's around 275 lbs now so he needs to gain around 35 or 40 lbs to be able to hold up. Anything less than 315 he'll get thrown around like a rag doll.

I don't think those weights are accurate. I saw somewhere that's he's almost 300 lbs now.

Of course, what I read could have not been accurate…

If so that's great! It's a lot easier to put on 15-20 pounds of muscle than 40 lbs. Lol

Just curious, if Ivey has an exceptional burst of speed, will that help make up for less weight ?

It will help him against speed rushers but not against a bull rush or in the run game.

He was actually the best tackle against the run. He struggled a little bit against elite pass rushers at The Open. Mainly because his high school team had a run oriented offense.

Compared to whom? I didn't see it. I hope he didn't struggle against HS pash rushers if he is expected to start in the SEC in a 20 weeks or so.

Cowart beat him pretty bad at some of the camps last summer....Apopka HS runs a Winged T offense, just like Bob Davie's study UM.

Sorry. By "I didn't see it", I meant I didn't watch those games or camp scrimmages, not that I watched them and I didn't see him miss some blocks, if that wasn't clear.

In any event, those camps, by their design, favor the defense.

Didn't apopka run behind him for back to back 8a state championships? Wasn't he the best o-line prospect in the last two years? If any o lineman can play as a frosh it would be Ivey

I doubt we see Ivey playing much early in the season unless he gains at least 25 pounds by then.
