Well, folks....the UF administration has jumped the shark and has put our school in the pool of 'what is wrong with this country' universities.

I heard about this while driving into work this morning, listening to Clay Travis Radio Show. Clay Travis actually called UF and pretended to be a UF student who was offended by a Horambe costume (the ape that was killed at the Cincinnati zoo) and he said he felt it was racist. The lady answering the call was clueless and said she thought it was the wrong number, she wasn't prepared to take the call, and asked for his number to return the call.

Travis made a complete joke of it, which was funny....and sad (being that it's UF).

I found a story on google:

University of FL: Report Offensive Halloween Costumes

October can be spooky, but this year it's downright terrifying at the University of Florida.

With the haunted holiday right around the corner, the administration at UFL wants students to be on the lookout for...offensive Halloween costumes. Increasingly, safe space ideology, absurd on its own, is creeping into every aspect of collegiate and American life.

The warning memo, as published by Gator Times:

---

Some Halloween costumes reinforce stereotypes of particular races, genders, cultures, or religions. Regardless of intent, these costumes can perpetuate negative stereotypes, causing harm and offense to groups of people. The University of Florida’s Division of Student Affairs Diversity and Social Justice Statement reminds us that UF fosters a community that values and respects diversity. An inclusive definition of diversity recognizes the variety of personal and social experiences that make individuals and communities different from one another.

If you are troubled by an incident that does occur, please know that there are many resources available. Please take advantage of the 7 day a week presence of the U Matter, We Care program at the University of Florida by emailing [email protected]. Additionally, there is a 24/7 counselor in the Counseling and Wellness Center available to speak by phone at 352-392-1575. Lastly, the Bias Education and Response Team at the University of Florida is able to respond to any reported incidents of bias, to educate those that were involved, and to provide support by connecting those that were impacted to the appropriate services and resources.

---

Oh, no. Not costumes which perpetuate stereotypes or - gasp - any bias?! The absolute horror.

Sensitive liberals on college campuses nationwide are here to kill fun in all its forms. No longer are students allowed to enjoy dressing up one day a year in costumes. Instead, they must be careful about what they're wearing and consider whether or not it will cause any emotional distress for another person. After all, their $18.99 costume from Walmart may just be the reason some poor snowflake seeks out a university counselor.

It is entirely unclear how these students are supposed to enter the world of adults, bosses, deadlines, and mortgages if they lack basic coping skills. However, Halloween costumes for dogs were just declared sexist, so they might fit right in.

Free speech seems to be on its way out on college campuses and in suburbia. Really, if there is any problem I have with Halloween costumes, it's the lack of creativity. Trashy policewoman and trashy Bavarian bar maid? Please, put some thought into it.

On October 31, the students at UFL will be subject to liberal academics and their joy stealing brigade. Is it just me, or does all this "progress" seem like regression?

In the 80's there was a huge Halloween costume party every year. You would see girls dressed as giant vaginas or bloody used tampons and guys dressed as giant penises (some with an ejaculation feature).

I think '89 was the last year because of those raunchy costumes.

Now a 30's gangster offends Italians, a Genie offends Arabs, an Indian offends Elizabeth Warren, a toga offends Greeks, a leprechaun offends the Irish, a witch offends Wiccans, a mad scientist offends nerds, a cow offends Hindus, a cop offends BLM, a pimp offends feminists...and a giant vagina offends everybody who is offended because that is exactly what they are.

I'd love to see some of these just to piss off the "safe spacers".

Halloween costumes are supposed to be offensive. That's the point.

Who was the guy who dressed up as the giant dick back in the late '70s? Ya think he'd have passed emissions today?

Saw a rendition of that in 87 at the X - Warren Zevon show at the bandshell - dude was pumping what looked like milk out the top and squirting it on people. He won the costume contest and I think his name was Penis Rising.

Our kid's elelmentary school doesn't allow costumes on Halloween - it's outrageous. I remember it as one of the best days of the year as a little kid to parade around in your costume. They have a Harvest Party instead, with games and stuff. The CIty of Shoreline, just north of Seattle, gives the kids the day off school - now they know how to do Halloween right.
