Cane fans are screaming that it's the 2001 Canes. Nebraska fans are claiming it's the 95 Cornhuskers. Personally, I think all 3 teams are the 3 greatest to ever play and there's no way to separate them.

And it pains me to say that since that Cornhusker team obliterated us. And the Canes. Well, they're the Canes.

I have to say the 95 Cornhuskers are the best college football team I have ever seen. Heck, I think our 96 squad was every bit as good, if not better, than the 08 squad.

I agree. Very good teams were afraid the 96 team would score 60 on them. Heisman QB, three RBs who played in the NFL (though one switched positions), three NFL receivers, I think 4 NFL lineman, and a dominant defense.

I think the 08 team would beat the 96 team....but not by much.

2001 Miami? Really? Hell we had a better team that year and would have won the title if al-Qaida and darnell docket hadn't conspired together to prevent it.

I can't even imagine putting Danny and Tim against one another. That's a scenario I'd never want to play out because I couldn't pull against either of them.

No way. Can you imagine what scUM would have done to our defense. They would have been harder to stop than Tennessee and they ran all over us.

I would say 95 Huskers probably but some of those Miami teams you couldn't run on.

We love all our championship teams. Best ever? How many Gators does it take to tackle Tommie Frazier? The fact that we came back from that and won the next year makes me want to believe our '96 team is our best ever.

If you made me bet I would take 08 vs. 96 but I can't confidently pick one or the other.

That was back when Miami was still in the big least. They played nobody all year and then beat a Nebraska team in the rose bowl that had just lost to Colorado in the previous game.

Aww no love for Leak and the 2006 crew? They could have been undefeated in Leak's fumble/forward pass call went the other way.

Seriously though, I think both 1996 and 2008 were better. Of those two, which to pick? I don't know.

Non Conference: SW Lousiana (55-21), Georgia Southern (62-14), FSU (21-24) and FSU (52-20) in 1996. Versus: Hawaii (56-10), Miami (26-3), Citadel (70-19), FSU (45-15), OU (24-14).

It's tough, but I think 2008 was better. They played a tougher NC schedule, held the video game OU offense to 14 points, and didn't lose to F$U.

Another random point, though, I didn't realize UF played Georgia Southern before. Quite a change from 62-14 to 20-26. Looks like Spurrier knew all about the midline.

The 96 team played a tougher non-conference schedule because they played the #1 team on the road. Miami and FSU sucked in 08. Plus, the 96 team's only loss was to that #1 team on the road...which they avenged by crushing them in the Sugar bowl. The 08 team lost at home to Ole Miss! HOF coach, Heisman QB, our best receiving corps ever, a stable of running backs that went on to the NFL, ditto for the OL and a helluva defense.

I'm changing my vote to the 96 team over the 08 team. I find it hard to believe that the greatest team of all time could lose to Ole Miss.

The Ole Miss game was an aberration. They flat out just didn't show up that day. The 2008 team from the 3rd quarter of Arkansas until the end of the season? I'd put them up against any team in college football history and like their chances. I mean for Christ's sake, the secondary consisted of Janoris Jenkins, Ahmad Black, Major Wright, and Joe Haden.

That was one helluva secondary for sure. Spikes was such a beast. And Tim and Percy were as good a pair on offense as has ever been on a football field together.
