Lots of buzz. No traction.
Lot of smoke right now about Kevin Steele to UT....him and Phatty Phil are buddies. The fans HATE this idea. BADLY. They will riot again if it happens. Please please please hire Kevin Steele.
Another article saying it could be Steele. I got a whole case of Zima's and I'm ready! https://www.seccountry.com/tennessee/kevin-steele-football-candidate-tennessee-vols
They could do so much worse, but Steele is like 6 yrs away from collecting social security.
Steele went 1-31 in conference play as a head coach at Baylor....they don't like that very much.
I like that very much for them
What?!? You can't hire a guy who went 1-31 in conference. That's like a hiring a guy to curb-stomp Bama who is 0-9 vs. Saban and 3-7 vs. LSU... oh, wait.... never mind.
Breaking news - Tennessee is changing their nickname from Volunteers to Rioters and they also have a new mascot.
Peyton has darker hair nowadays, though.
Wait, Chris Petersen of UW/Boise? First, there's no way he's going to UT, but his record is not 157-129, it's 129–28. FWIW I think Jeff Brohm and Chad Morris are pretty legit up and coming coaches.
@WTNVol: Fellow Vols, I deeply miss the days when we fought over Dan Mullen’s resume #Volstwitter #VolsCoachingSearch
Now they are saying it's going to be Jeremy Pruitt.
This is beyond comical...
Yep. @BruceFeldmanCFB: Hearing that #Alabama DC Jeremy Pruitt has emerged as a strong candidate for the #Tennessee head coaching vacancy.
That’s his total coaching record according to BSPN. I agree that it’s highly doubtful that he goes; I was just looking at who the fans said were coming.
I dont know where ESPN is getting that. He was 92-12 at Boise St and he is currently 37-16 at Washington. Also.... and I didnt know this... but according to wiki: Following a Pac-12 championship and College Football Playoff appearance in 2016, Petersen's contract was extended through 2023 with an average salary of $4.875 million per year. This new contract makes Petersen the highest paid coach in the Pac-12.
If this is true, then we'd be the only team in the East to not have a former DC as the head coach.
No one here knows
There were rumors at the time he left FSU that he may have been involved with another woman in the athletic department. There was widely reported friction at UGA with not only the HC but also the administration. I remember some Georgia insiders at the time indicating he was involved the wife of another coach and there was some kind of a physical altercation. There have been allegations at Alabama that he has tried to set high school students up to have their grades manipulated to maintain eligibility. Sounds like HC material to me. Do they really sell Zima still?
