US Army, via UF AROTC, active duty, mostly in the 92nd Engineer Battalion, 1977-1981, left as a Captain. IRR, 1981 - 1985.

Thanks to all the other vets on this board, and to all the other vets everywhere, including my 93 year old Dad, USN 1941 - 1946, left as Lt Cmdr. He was in grad school at UF when Japan attacked and on Monday, Dec 8th, went to the Navy recruiting station in Gainesville. They told him that since he had a college degree (UNC, '41) he was an Ensign. He served on two different destroyers, one in the Atlantic, and one in the Pacific.

Thanks to all the men and women who understand how special the idea of America is and who actually take steps to protect it, and us. To all our veterans, we can never thank you enough. Without you, there would be no "America" - plain and simple.

Enjoy this day and know we all appreciate the sacrifices you and your families make each and every day.

The Vets can be better served than a nominal national celebration of Veterans Day when the President, the Congress and various government agencies come together to solve the problems of apathy, mismanagement and the unacceptable injustice of mistreating our Vets trapped in the VA Hospital system.

Lot of Vets here....good to see.

I'm working on my 20th year. Went to boot camp in 89 (Navy), did 4 years....got out and never thought I'd go back in (graduated UF in 95) and went back into the Reserves in 98. Transferred to the Coast Guard in 2001, OCS in 2003..... The CG has been good to me. I even got a free lunch today at Daves Famous BBQ!!
