I just checked and mine has the restore feature enabled but I did upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7 which might make a difference.

I upgraded both of mine from Win 7. One I upgraded last summer didn't have Restore setup and enabled but the one that I did this July, was enabled but I changed some parameters. Did you make sure you had some restore points saved?

It had three restore points from the earliest of 8/24 to the latest which is 9/1.

I started using Win 10 shortly after it was officially released and it has been a very solid performer for me.

Too late for me. Win 10 bricked my son's older computer (like a 2010 vintage) due to one of those automatic download things.

It took me four days. I got all my data using Linux to save the day, but Im done with this shyt. Ended up having to do a complete clean restore to Win 7. Win 10 just looped and looped. Couldnt get it into a safe mode or get to any restore points. Its just not worth the hassle.

Anyone here get the Win 10 Auto Correct loop of death? Happened with one of my office machines yesterday. I let it run overnight to see if it was a matter of loading security updates. Hope it's not a hard drive failure.
Did this computer ever upload the new update from November?

I'm having trouble with this update failing...

Upgrade to Windows 10 Home, version 1511, 10586

According to MS I need to doẃnload the ISO so I'm in the process of doing that now. I will let you know if that works later.

If you are talking to me, that was my next step but I resolved my problem this morning by turning my internet off and uninstalling my virus protection. Then it installed with no problem.

It's not just antivirus. It was screwing with the boot sector and the partitions.

    I'm done.

Not sure if I could dowload the iso anyway. It says I need a license, not sure if my free upgrade counts for that.

Win 7 keeps it install/repair features on an extra partition that is usually hidden and protected. When Win 10 fails to install correctly it reverts to your old install which in your case is Win 7. I posted the link to the ISO some in the other thread and yes if you tried to upgrade that would count.

It installed correctly and ran for a few months. Then it did a magical upgrade and started looping. Never would fix itself, return to a previous settings, or even go into safe mode. It just had the circle of dots thing going on forever.

Between the two W10 computers however Ive had too many of these problems. Keep it. Even for free its not worth it.

Yeah, but, not worth my time. Sorry.

I don't want to have to pass compTIAA to make my computer run. If the shyt won't run out of the box, screw them.

Fine.... When I decided to look at my Install History and I saw that every failure was for the same reason. That's when I turned off my internet connection and uninstalled my virus protection which wasn't compatible with Win 10. Then it installed 1st time .

Gren, it is Avasts product for W10. It works fine on my other three Win10 computers.

I installed W10 fine back in June or July 2015 but a new version of W10 came out in November that got me stuck in Groundhog mode. It would tell me that I had updates , try to install and fail and re-install my old system(W10). After a half dozem times I looked at my update history and saw that it was failing for the same Update everytime. Googled and MS wasn't much heip but I did find a blog that suggested a few things. I finally turned off my internet and uninstalled my virus protection(AVG) and that worked.

I've been using Windows Defender which is built in to Win 10 and have had no problems. I'm not sure there is really a generalized need for third party virus scanners these days.

    Okay...... ;)

I might try using Windows Defender for my generalized viruses.

Hey, I was just figuring if you were a heavy porn user, you might need something to supplement Windows Defender.

I let that one slide... Windows Defender guarding his computer and a White Meleagris gallopavo guarding his hen house. You can see the reason that I let that slide.:bwahaha:

Have same exact issue with one of mine right now... How did you break the looping to do something?

There are several loopings, can you describe yours. One of mine was in an update looping, it keep downloading and failing on the same updates over and over. I didn't even think about it except somehow it was controlling all wifi access. I looked at the Update History noticed the constant failed installs. I downloaded the updates again, uninstalled my virus program, disabled my wifi adapter and let it install. It installed this time. I think that Win 10 searches for new, updated drivers if it can find the internet but installs if there is no internet.

Thanks... I have everything constantly backing up, so I just reset to factory and reloaded. It wasn't that painful, and I'll keep Windows 10 off of it for now. ;)
