Interesting. I look forward to these reaching the market, and in another few years (2019-2020?) being more commonplace to the point of being standard, rather than cutting edge. Then again, hybrid and electric cars have proven too expensive to become widespread given the support systems they require. Wonder how much this technology will cost, and how much of it will be borne by the homeowner (an in home device sending out charging waves) vs public (gov't or office spaces with free charging areas).

It looks like it can be transmitted via any Wi-Fi device such as a router. So you will probably start seeing them implemented by Internet service providers competing for your business with Wi-Fi hotspots.

can't NFC compatible phones already charge wireless? Not the same thing, but already a step in that direction.

Big step in technology, however that range will have to improve for it to be useful.

It doesn't exist until it shows up in an iPhone. So I'm guessing years out. Apple did buy or patent, I forget which, a wireless charging technology but I know of no discussion to put it in iPhone 7 next year. And I doubt it would be in the iPhone 7s on 2017 as those are usually minor tweaks. So if by "months out" you mean 36 months until iPhone 8 then....
