If you could change the outcome of only one Gator game, which game would you pick?

I listed a couple of painful games for me. I'm sure you all have others (maybe one of the mods could update the poll w/ better choices?).

Dammit. I instantly thought ‘01 Tennessee, but then you reminded me of ‘09 Alabama. Don’t make me choose.

95 Fiesta Bowl for me. I was there, froze my ass off in the nosebleeds (I know, it was in Arizona, but it was freakin' cold up there in the wind), spent a lot of money to get there, lost money in Vegas. If we had won, it would have all been worth it. And it would have been our first NC.

Damn BMF, great poll...but too hard to choose. I’ve got to give this some thought.

Gotta go with 95 Nebraska. It was for the natty so that trumps the other options.

Outside of a personal experience, I think the chosen game would have to have a direct correlation to a title. That eliminates ‘94 fsu and ‘01 ut, as both years were eerily similar and equally maddening. Of course, that would also make ‘95 Neb the obvious choice. But would we have been as hungry in ‘96 if not for that game? Would we even have made the move for Stoops? I’m not sure. It’s really tough to repeat. And while that may be a counter to ‘09, we would’ve been one win over a Texas away from a 4th title. Not to mention we went from being the premier team on cfb to a complete dumpster fire that night. To me, that’s the only real answer.

As a write-in, how about ‘84 miami opener. We already have some that called us national champions that year. At 10-0-1, it’s a no brainer over BYU, and the rest of the SEC could pound sand and cry themselves to sleep as we paraded through the streets.

Against the grain pick would be 2012 LaLafayette. A loss there would’ve definitely hindered some of the “11 wins/1 game away” crowd we kept hearing as 2013 crumbled before our eyes. May have been enough to force Foley’s hand to make a move on Franklin or Strong before things got out of hand.

I chose 2001 Tennessee game. Basically because the team should have won the whole damn thing.

One that you don’t have on there is the 2009 Kentucky game. I would’ve preferred that Tebow didn’t play that game at all and got the rest he needed. Then he wouldn’t have got blindsided and basically been a vegetable the entire season. He was never the same again after that hit.

2001 Tennessee game as GatorJ said, we would have won the whole thing and maybe, just maybe SOS sticks around longer and who knows what happens from there.

The 2009 Bama game would have validated Addazio and we would have been stuck with him after Urban bailed out. Regardless of the outcome of that game he would have bailed to go to POSU anyway.

If you think Muschamp was bad, try and remember how bad Spazzio would have been.

FSU - still can't believe we let that happen against a huge rival and it would have gave Spurrier a win @FSU. Still hard to believe Zook won a game at FSU and Spurrier never did.

                      Another selfish note-
I would have loved to seen a Natty while I was in school. And this was the one and only WLOCP I attended:

1985: 'Dogs upset No. 1 Gators
The 1985 Florida Gators entered the contest on a roll: coming off an emotional win over the Auburn Tigers, undefeated, and ranked No. 1 in the nation for the first time in school history. This would not be a repeat of the 1984 game, however. As they had done so many times in the past, the Bulldogs spoiled Florida's season, defeating the Gators 24–3 with freshmen running backs Keith Henderson and Tim Worley both rushing for over 100 yards

                      :cry2:

I'll go in a completely different direction and say 2012 ULM. Had we not had that miracle finish and lost that game, Chump would have been exposed for what he was and never would have survived 2013. Had that happened, we could be getting ready for year 5 of the James Franklin era.

I chose 2001 UT as well for selfish reasons. Wife and I were living in Redondo Beach. The plan all along was to attend the BCSCG. Spur-dog also left us at the end of the season to go to the NFL. Perhaps he would have stayed.

2009 Bama. That was the start of the downfall. I would say ‘95 Nebraska, but we won it all the next year anyway, so the only thing we’d save there is the embarrassment of 62-24.

I wouldn’t change ‘95 Nebraska because to me, there’s nothing sweeter than beating the clowns the way we did for our first National Championship.

The game against Nebraska had Spurrier making adjustments for the 96 season. Wuerful got rid of the ball quicker, especially with the athletes we had at WR. During the 95 season LSU's DC took credit for 62-24 loss as well as the regular season loss to FSU in 96 with a clinic he displayed on TV on how to stop Spurrier's offense. Beating FSU in the most important game of the series made it all worth it. After all, FSU fans did nothing but gloat over the 62-24 loss.

Our community sprung up when the Gatorsports message board was shut down in the summer of 2014. We pride ourselves on offering Gator-biased, yet critical discussion among people of all different backgrounds. We are working every day to make sure our community is the best Gator message board you will find.
