Because our defensive minded head coach, couldn't field a competent defense. He let the OC's do their thing If the rumors are true he wouldn't allow his DC's to implement their systems, but wanted a generic system that was easier to learn... :rolleyes:

Our special teams were abysmal during his tenure as well...and as a Packers fan it was very disheartening to see him get hired

Tenure as Head Coach, he was a pretty good Special Teams coordinator under Spurrier (94-95).

I'd take Zook over what we have now. At least the roster would be loaded for the next guy.

Mike McCarthy (Green Bay's head coach) and Zooker were both on staff with the Saints back in the early 2000s. McCarthy was OC and Zook the DC. Mike loves him some Zooker.

Probably the reason he's coaching there. Withthe money he's banked from UF and Illinois, you'd think he'd look for a location/team with better weather. It's not like he needs the job.

Intersting that you mention that. I recall a zook assistant unnamed saying at the time that the kids were remedial in their understanding.

larry fedora was an excellent OC here... what people forget about the Zook tenure.

Well The HC is responsible for getting a good OC so that credit goes to him. Fedora would've been a good hire though.
