Dude, get a full-sized truck, either American or Japanese. They are incredibly roomy, comfortable, and practical. I have one now and I don't know if I'll ever be able to not have one again.
Same here. Love my Tundra.

A friend used to get a new company car every 3 years. Started with Mercedes then went to BMW. Boss told him the next one was a Hyundai. Boss brought him a new Genesis (the 4 door variety). He told me it was the best car he had ever driven. Ride and finish were both superior to Mercedes and BMW. TIFWIW.

Ever walk up to that shapely blonde from behind only to have her turn around and find out she's got a beak.....that's what the front of this car reminds me of.....but her beak....Have you seen one in person?
I did not. I went to BMW and they were having some good sales. So I drove something and liked it. I told the guy if he had a blue M sport he might have a deal. SOB said wait a minute and had one on the lot. So they made me an offer and I got up and left. The next day he emailed me and asked if I was coming in. So I called him and said I had two choices, I could go test drive the Alfa Romeo or he could give me the price I wanted. He gave me what I wanted. It's the blue 330i but with the M Sport package it has black wheels and all the chrome is black. So it looks a lot like the Alfa Romeo. Got the windows tinted today. I'll post a pic when the sun comes out.

I like the nose on the Alfa Romeo.

Oh, and I told him I had new rims/tires on the trade. But I put the old ones back on before I had it towed so I can sell the newer rims that I just bought off of ebay for $1500. Also I thought the car had 82k miles on it. When they got it to the lot it had 95k. They didn't seem to care, I just had to sign new paperwork that had the actual mileage on it.

Yeah those new Hyundais are decked out. But I don't like Koreans.

Your 550iM had 95,000 miles? Holy ****, no wonder you got torched.

I feel bad for ya Buddy and know what it's like. We had similar issues with both of our Mercedes about 4 or 5 years ago. I still love the look and feel of those expensive German cars but in reality once they are even several years old they can become a nightmare.....

I love the Roundel. My primary bike is a R 1200 GS and she is a phenomenal ride (though I am having some fun on a KLR I bought this past summer). She is perhaps the perfect motorcycle - maybe she could lose a few lbs.... She is my third BMW bike.

I have never owned a BMW car or SUV and what has stopped me in recent years is its precipitous drop in quality. Much of this is due to all of the electric doodads and farkles - but cheapness has crept into BMW's bread & butter - its engine and drivetrain. They use a lot of plastics and inferior materials these days. The maniacal drive to unrealistic mileage standards and tricks OEMs use to game the system probably have contributed. As others in this thread have said, it is probably best to lease a new Beemer that you return before the bumper-to-bumper warranty expires.

BMW made bikes before they started building cars (and airplanes before the bikes). Historically, the calling card for BMW bikes has been rugged, "go-anywhere" dependability. More recently, they have become a bit more performance oriented with the F and especially S 4-cylinder bikes. But, they have shifted some of their production to Asian countries for the usual reasons about lowering unit costs.... All BMW bikes are losing their patina of "bulletproofness" - even my beloved boxers. And I can tell you, there is little point in paying a premium for those magical three letters if the friggin things aren't made in Germania. A friend that's looking to add an ADV bike worn't even look at the F 850 GSs because they're not made in Germany anymore and I don't really blame him.

Frustrating times indeed.

To the OP: better luck with your new 3-series.

Owned two BMWs. Not the worst and certainly not the best in terms of dependability. Porsche is the most dependable, bar none, among the German brands.

This particular Porsche (designed by Ferdinand himself) wasn't very dependable.

I mentioned it before, but you should read about his original electric hybrid drive system he designed for this very vehicle (actually his original Tiger prototype). It was pretty amazing and it's what people are just doing now in car design, but it was way too complicated , too expensive, but mainly was not used due to lack of critical raw materials... only one Porsche design was ever built.

The petrol-electric drive specially developed by Ferdinand Porsche entered "uncharted territory" for road vehicles; this led to numerous development issues with the drive system. The two air-cooled V-10 engines designated Porsche Type 101, which were merged respectively with a Siemens-Schuckert 500 kVA generator, generated the necessary electric power to operate each of the two Siemens 230 kW (312.7 PS) individual-output electric motors. In this drive system, a mechanical power transmission system and gearbox could be omitted, since now a 3-step speed switch took over the work. The electric motors transferred their power to a final drive with a ratio of 15: 1 directly to the drive wheels located at the rear. The fuel tanks carried 520 litres of petrol and allowed a driving range of 105 kilometers. Two compressed air tanks in the front crew compartment area assisted the driver during braking maneuvers.

Alex.

Had a 10-1 kill ratio, but too complicated to maintain in a deteriorating war effort.
