I spent a little over 12 years in sales after leaving the Culinary field....never was a natural and it only came natural when I matched personalities with a client....it didn't help that I truly hate about 95% of the Worlds population and don't mind telling you if I don't like you .

One thing that I did learn though was that all "Sales Trainers" were usually guys that couldn't cut it on in sales but ended up in that position because they had a degree and knew who to blow....
well if you want to sell me something, a hot chick giving me a bj is a good sales pitch

No but I wouldn't mind having a little input on the offensive line coaching.....maybe just a few words of encouragement or something...ya know like " get off your fat ass and block something besides the running lane"...

From a fellow lurker, thanks for posting that Woodstork, and please post more often. The information itself was interesting, but you have really good takes that are worth reading.

Rivals has that guy as the #20 WR, and his offer list included Bama, Georgia, and about 25 Power 5 schools total. And then I watched this:

If the guy was also academically and goal oriented, then how the hell could we not have wanted him anyway? It's not like we haven't been taking fliers on WR projects.

Even if we didn't want him anyway, that is a jackass thing to say to a recruit. There are plenty of ways to process a recruit that would not require you to say something that ignorant.

I can possibly bend my mind around the idea that Gonzales was attempting to flatter Redding by implying that he was SEC ready, but that his delivery fell flat. But it doesn't matter. Either way he epic failed in that interaction, like you and others said. And if he said that and meant it, he sucks as a position coach too.

The probability of the mom lying seems extremely low. If the bag man got them and she felt the need to tell you a story, it wouldn't be that specific. Especially not the build up about his academic aspirations, being highly interested in UF and liking Mullen. Even if she made up what Billy said, she must have hated him to throw him under the bus like that. She'd have to have some weird personality disorder to want to go that in depth with a lie to a stranger at the airport.

For BG to come out of this not needing to be fired, it would have to be something like this. The mom wasn't present when her son was having the conversation, and in reality, he doesn't really want to go to a harder academic school. He wants to mail it in at the U and maybe they promised him a life of ease (off the field) and whores. But Alabama and UGA could have offered him that, and UGA needing WRs, would have.

Oh, and one more thing. I would suck at sales. I'm below average at wooing people period. But I would never in a million years tell a recruit that. Not if it were true, not if I were trying to process him and most certainly not if I were actually trying to convince him to commit. I agree that Mullen needs to institute some sort of training program for the staff, but this isn't a lack of sales training. If you are coaching at the level of an SEC position coach, you have to be better than that by default. Any training should be to give you an edge, not to elevate your game from that level to competency.

Maybe Percy knocked some screws loose. Or maybe there was a reason that Urban was like,

was told that he was not looking for players requiring development. Period.

Woodstork, reminds me of the stupidity of April Glaspie, Ambassador to the Middle East when Sadam tried to introduce his complaints that Kuwait was "slant-drilling", taking Iraq's oil. Glaspie told him that the US isn't interested in hearing about Kuwait. (Now what she meant was that she was sent to talk about other stuff.) But the mind of the Arab male thinks the way like Sadam took it and he invaded Kuwait. Same kind of non-thinking reply that does nobody any good. Above all else, Gonzalez, do no harm.

It's not true at any program that they do not want athletes to develop and grow in all kinds of good ways.?? As a recruiter, it is your job/goal to remove any ideas a kid has that would lower his opinion of the University of Florida. If Gonzalez said this what other (unsaid) "vibes" do recruits pick up on from him and others.

Thanks for that. After meeting his Mom and hearing her description of her son, I was thinking this is exactly the kind of kid I want at UF.

I believe momma Redding was sincere. She was a classy and thoughtful person, with a calm and confident demeanor. I!agree it would have been easier for her to just keep the response simple and say something like ‘he just felt like the canes were a better fit’ if it was really the bag man or something embarrassing. She also wasn’t under any obligation to even tell me who her son was, or that he was going to sign with Miami. The whole conversation started when I asked if she was traveling for business or family. She could have told me family and not added a word thereafter. If so, I’d have flipped the phone on, never given her a second thought, and would still be lurking only on Chatter.

There were a couple of pharmaceutical companies that were well known for hiring former SEC cheerleaders. You’ll rarely ever see an ugly pharma rep. Now, why do you suppose that is?

Guys, guys, we literally are losing the highest average ranking talent Billy G has ever had and he totally was the reason we had the talent on campus.

Haven’t you learned anything this week? We should give all position coaches 4 years to truly evaluate them and its best to just assume the coaches always know best.

I think Graham is an option for the Toney position. Not sure how good his hands are, but he fields punts, so they can't be that bad. Especially, if all you're really doing is jet sweeps. Plus he seems more physical than Toney.

We have some good WR's and athletes that can play the position but yeah we need another 3-4 by the time February hits and/or some top transfers to come to UF.

I took that as completely sarcastic.
