Solidifies the Jags will be 4th in the division for a long time.

This is going over my head? What does the panthers hiring Rhule have to do with the jags continued pursuit of mediocrity? To me, hiring Rhule would be furthering that pursuit.

What would they need permission for? Who would grant him permission? He’s unemployed.

Well, without a QB, he has little chance of success. In the NFL, 90% of the teams either have a fantastic QB or lose (at least in the log run, with an occasional abhoration season of success). He has no one (sorry geier fans) and not a high enough pick to get a great one now unless he gets lucky.

So, in 3-4 years if Mullen does not actually work out (or replaces McCarthy with the Cowboys), Rhule would be a good replacement in 2023-24. Just thinking ahead.

Maybe Grantham will be fired by MSU then too and can make everyone thrilled by being brought back!

Not unemployed until the 14th, why that is the case other than the initial contract who knows.

I guess we won't be seeing Pat McAfee doing any more belly flops for Gameday at Baylor again any time soon.

I think Rhule is a good coach, but not to compare but just for fun, it was mentioned on here by many that Cousin Eddie was a candidate somewhere. Rhule I believe has been a head coach in college for less time than Cousin Eddie and at Temple and Baylor, while Cousin Eddie has coached 2 teams in the best conference. I know that Rhule was an assistant in the NFL though. It is widely known that Rhule was on at least 3 teams list of candidates. Is it possible that Cousin Eddie was not on anyone's list and that he is not as highly thought of by NFL guys as some on here may think? Whether he was or was not a candidate anywhere does not change whether he is a good or bad coach or whether I think he is a good or bad coach. I am just pointing out that a guy at Temple and Baylor is being begged by teams to interview and Cousin Eddie does not even get a sniff. Does not mean anything per se, but perhaps the NFL is not as keen on our coach as some would like to think.
