I totally agree with this. Grantham is predictable and that hurts us when it matters most. Im just not sure who you go out and try to get at this point that would be an "upgrade"

Timing isn’t great, but hopefully his friendship with DM was good enough that we aren’t being blindsided by it either. Mullen’s move to upgrade Warren last year looked like it was in the works long before announced.

@ltraz had some names and some ideas of how to approach it. Basically need to look at talent vs performance then find a “fit”. It’s why CDM gets paid the big bucks.

It's both. Grantham's style is somewhat wreckless and really predictable AND kids want to play for him. They want to blitz

Totally agree that we won't automatically upgrade. In fact, I would bet that we don't but that's the pessimist in me.

Hopefully Mullen has some good DC's on speed dial right now

Other than recruiting. Was it really an upgrade? Im not calling Charlton Warren some genius but I didn't think our DBs played all that well this year. Safety we know is a problem with English but the corners just seemed very blah at times.

Turner turned out to be a good upgrade in terms of on the field and recruiting but we really need to hit some home run hires if Grantham does leave and poaches some of the staff

We know how much you hate the black man. We got it.

No I hate terrible defensive coaches who haven't fielded a top 25 defense in over six years. For a man of "stats" and the fact that you like to complain about nonsensical **** all the time, I figured you would be first in line of not wanting a guy who hasn't been a good defensive coach in ages

Could be a scheme issue too. Our guys are on an island when the predictable blitz gets picked up and the qb has all Day.

Personally I’m just of the opinion that these position coaches are more or less recruiters who also have some measure of coaching responsibilities. Bring in talented enough players and I think coaching/development becomes very much secondary. So I place a ton of stock in that area, especially given some of the dead weight elsewhere.

As for this year, I think we had one guy who was going through the motions to get to the draft(as far tackling) and another coming back from injury whi wasn’t his former self yet. The two freshmen actually looked almost as good and I think it was because they had neither of those concerns. Just my observation though.

Maybe you should reread my post, I said he would be a good option at DC as long as we could get another DC to come run the show for him. It was a joke, I don't want Strong back.

I did not read your post, correct. My apologies

Def agree with the work he has done with the Freshman and technique. Probably just letting Henderson's soft play cloud my judgement

I think Marconand CJ seemed to be just killing time til the draft, unfortunately.

I HOPE Marco was just hurt.
