Mehhh... he is alot like Mullinz. OK playcaller, not great. He scores more points but his has never heard of defense and doesnt care to, so Inguess it evens out. Below average recruiter. Never going to win anything.
Not following. Are you claiming Mullen doesn’t care about defense or are you stopping your comparison at ok but not great playcaller (highly questionable assertion - even Traz wouldn’t agree)? Might have a point if you wanted to compare based on offensive philosophy that needs updating...

Youre right that was confusing. Pirate is a very good but not great playcaller (top 20 offense type) while Mullinz is an low good to high average guy (60th ranked offense type) but Pirate doesnt give a shyt about defense and Mullinz generally at least fields one, so it averages out.

Both are below average recruiters. Neither are going to win anything (championships).

I agree re philosphy needs updating.

Love Donk drunk posting....

I know you hate it but Mullen is consistently a top 25-30 advanced stat offensive guy. Total offense is stupid unless you think all those MACtion teams with high yardage offenses can compete in the SEC. Maybe you and 78 have something in common...

Mullen’s recruiting is getting complicated. I would’ve agreed prior to UF. Last year, I’d say too risky but fine. This year looks pretty good though. And you can’t discount the transfers when talking recruiting and he’s done well there. Mixed bag but way better than the Pirate.

Leach just picked a very good grad transfer QB from Stanford:

KJ Costello, he was injured much of 2019, but threw for 3500 & 29 TDs in 2018:

Yep. Imagine going on a job interview w/ a Stanford undergrad degree and a masters from Miss State. It would probably be cause for elimination for contention for the job.

What is State known for academically?Every university has at least one thing. For example, I’m a hydrologist and Ole Miss has the National Center for Computational Hydroscience which is highly regarded. So, what is State’s purpose? The Mullens seemed to like being there.

I had to google this...but I assumed maybe agriculture, engineering:

https://www.quora.com/What-is-Mississippi-State-University-known-for

Mississippi State is the top research university in the state. It has a rising presence among research universities in the US. Besides the cowbell and a nationally known football team and women’s basketball team, Miss State is known for its engineering, agricultural, veterinarian, and computer science programs, among others, but it is also doing recognized research in many other areas.

It's typically recognized for its agricultural and engineering degree programs as well the veterinary school .

Mississippi State reflects on another year of growth and rising prominence as research leader

The year wrapped up with the announcement that Mississippi State maintained its ranking among the nation’s top 100 research institutions by the National Science Foundation, as well as its position as Mississippi’s highest-ranked research university.

Meanwhile, MSU, which improved its performance in every engineering category of the 2017 U.S. News & World Report college rankings, remains a vital hub for the nation’s aerospace research and development programs.

In addition to its designation as the FAA’s Center of Excellence for Unmanned Aircraft Systems, Mississippi State was tapped in 2017 to lead the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Demonstration Range Facility, which consists of multiple sites primarily in southern and coastal Mississippi.
