Thanks for posting. Ever since Gatorsports turned into a pay site I count on you guys for any news.

Sully had a pretty strong class last year that didn’t seem to fully develop. With this class they have the players and depth to make it to Omaha.

When do they put out the pre-season polls?

Brandon Sproat was ranked a top 150 kid, but fell because he was always viewed as a risky pick. Teams knew he was heavily leaning college. He is a steal.

Here is a write-up on Hunter Barco,

Hunter Barco is a 6’4”, 212 lb. lefthanded pitcher out of Bolles High School in Jacksonville, Florida. Barco is a two-way player, a power hitter who, if he ends up going to the University of Florida, where he is committed, would likely be in the lineup as a position player when he isn’t pitching. Barco throws in the low-90s, though he can apparently touch the mid-90s, and has a slider that’s seen as a potential plus pitch as well as an extremely low spin rate changeup (low spin rate for a changeup is a good thing). Barco has not had consistency with his control this year, and was sidelined for part of the spring with a shoulder issue. ~ Adam Morris

It’s easy to resent the way our administration has favored baseball delaying football facilities, but I have to say beating LSU for the NC was a major Gator fan highlight for me. Thoroughly enjoyed that CWS run and especially it’s conclusion. Hope Sully brings some more magic with this cohort.

Always nice when you get guys who easily could have signed pro deals, but now they have to pan out. Last year was very disappointing as the pitching did not develop. Now with head case Dyson gone, perhaps Mace and Leftwich will take that step forward this year and a lot of the young guys who pitched last year will improve, Hoping @Ocalaman is correct that Matt Damon improved over the summer as a catcher. Need much better defense at SS and 2B, but the potential talent is there to have a very good team. But as always the 30 game SEC slate is a tough grind, but good baseball.

Fantastic, the #1 ranked class! Just in time for another inexcusable, early exit from the postseason for such a large collection of talent.

I'm sorry... what? We just made the CWS 4 times in a row before last year... including an NC in that run. Sully has made the CWS 7 of the 12 years he has been here. I'm pretty sure we have made more CWS than anyone else during that stretch. Sully has only lost in the superregionals 1 time... out of 8 times of making it.

Honestly, what? Can you explain?

Despite not realizing it, you’ve grasped my point quite well. We’ve made the CWS a boatload of times under Sully yet closed the deal only once. Most of the other times at the CWS, we’ve greatly underperformed despite having so much talent. Look no further than your own post for the stats.

please explain how losing in Omaha is an "early exit from the postseason."

It’s self evident...but I’ll do so anyways. When you’re the #1 or #2 overall seed but you lose your first 2 games (or 2 if your first 3) and get sent home, that’s an early exit. When you have a boatload of talent & are predicted to go deep into the CWS and make a strong run at the title yet you don’t, that is an early exit.

I hope that clarifies the matter sufficiently.

Sully is widely known for suckage in the CWS when he hits Omaha. I’m surprised more of you aren’t aware of this.
