I'm a huge fan of Gator basketball but I'm rooting for them to lose all of their remaining games. White is in way over his head. It's time for him to go.

I could see this team losing to a doormat like Vandy and then going into Rupp
and winning. We looked like a top 20 team in the first half, and a middle school
team in the second . On top of that it seems like at least one player on every team
we play has a career high against us.

Same. This team can beat anyone and lose to anyone. Zero consistency

Steve Russell just said the gators made EIGHT baskets in 2nd half! Wtf!

And then he proceeded to take ten minutes talking about all the reasons why we should blame the players not the coach.
Nothing like listening to one UF employee cover for another one.

It is almost like these guys think the coach has nothing to do with improving kids shooting via coaching. The fact that all of our players become worse shooters the longer they are around White is telling. Compare that to Donovan, where players seemed to become better shooters every year with him. You could also hear him discuss shooting form, release point, balance, etc. when asked about the players. This is why the argument we keep hearing about the "open shots" just being missed still falls, at least in some substantial part, upon White.

I don't get this point. We beat one decent team, Auburn. We lost to all the other teams with a pulse that we played so far. This team is consistently bad. Where is the evidence that we are erratic and can beat anyone on any given night?

only a shytty coach sends his sycophants out to blame the players.

next we get the fateful "the athletic director has full faith in the coach."

The only problem with blaming the players is that this is 100% White's team right now. Everyone here was recruited by him...and most all were highly recruited players. This argument is far more convincing when you're inheriting a team that another coach recruited for a different style/philosophy (and even then, a truly good coach finds a way in spite of the above).

But to twist the knife even further: there's multiple examples of players getting *worse* under White instead of developing. Hudson is the prime example; but Allen is right up there too. About the only player that I can say has definitely improved under White's tenure is KJ. Everyone else has more or less plateaued or regressed. That's squarely on the coach.

At this point I'd take the Polar Bear over this team, and it's 100% disheartening.

I agree. We keep reading about all of these things that the coach is NOT responsible for which leads to the obvious question:

If the coach is not responsible for the performance of the players during the games nor is he responsible for their development as players then please explain to me exactly what the coach is being paid to do?

I will gladly accept his job if I am not responsible for results.

Apply this ridiculous position to your job and ask yourself if you would continue to be employed if none of the company's goals are ever achieved and you could simply point to others.

Unlike Noah Locke, the polar bear does not dribble the ball off his foot and loose it out of bounds when a defender is no where to be found.

This is just...explains a lot

This is my opinion as well. The players do not seem to want to play for White. They don’t appear to be “rallying” around their coach. It’s the only explanation for a talented defensive team not playing good defense. Offense takes skill....defense is largely hard work. We are not working hard on defense.

Lewis played 25 minutes against Baylor without a rebound and another 33 last night with 1. How do we explain that? 1 rebound in 58 minutes?

Offensively, while I hate the tempo and pace, I cannot argue that we generate an extraordinary amount of open looks that we miss. Lewis has shown flashes, especially early last night, but this incredible athlete has more air balls than dunks through 20 games. Mann has done little. Glover, the least talented of the 3, plays with the most motor.

There is clearly a disconnect somewhere and it appears to be with the coach/player chemistry.

I can only hope it’s not another Chris Walker Kasey Hill scenario.

Exactly @Marine1 . I have never said a word about Mike being the reason a player misses FT's or easy FG attempts. I do fault the coach when his players do not understand or exhibit shot selection tho. But your point about defense and fundamentals is spot on. Takes very little skill in knowing how to defend a pick and roll. Takes no skill to know your opponent's tendencies and shading to those tendencies. Takes no skill to balance the floor on defense or to block out when a shot is taken. The old adage that defense travels is true. As everyone saw MSU's defense did not get off the bus in the first half and they looked like a bad playground team. They unpacked some defense in the 2nd half and the game was a complete 180.

This, combined with telling Lewis before they left the floor at halftime to "quit talking to the guy you're guarding" after having a great first half just speaks of his approach to motivating. That kid would sign with the Siberian B- league before he would play another year under White.
Seriously, could you imagine Billy telling Noah to calm it down.

Maybe last year, but he seems to be effected by White this year with some mid-year regression.

I don't think Lewis is not trying, as much as he is positioned at the top of the key so often. When he is in, they match him up defensively on guards and three point shooters extensively. Locke can't guard, so they move him to the baseline to have Lewis stop the penetration. Zero and 1 are hard to explain away completely though by floor position. It seems that Lewis plays hard though.
