I thought dorlus was a plan C type guy?

He was, and we missed on him. So instead of landing a Plan C we whiff and have to sign 6 in this class. Signing two heavy DLs (one has since transferred) in two years is as sh*tty as you can get at recruiting. I used him as an example, there's other positions of need that we've missed on as well.

You Debbie Downers should find something else to crap on. It's a top 10 class better than 100+ other schools. The only thing that bothers me is why these Florida kids choose Georgia. No right minded Floridian likes Georgia.
I don’t think it’s just crapping on a top 10 class. It’s more of 1) Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Texas AM are all out recruiting us in the past couple of classes. For a frame of reference if we were in any other conference it would be top 3. Yeah, the SEC recruiting the way it does makes getting a top 10 class look worse 2) we whiffed on every running back, that’s on Knox 3) the bad press saying we whiffed on everyone. Not a good look and the optics are bad on that one. I’ll end it with my favorite line, It is what it is....

Now instead of saying dumb schit, lets think for a minute... we play in a 14 team conference in which we are one of the premier members, so of those 130 teams in NCAA their are about 10-20 that we should be comparing ourselves against when it comes to recruiting. Are you really happy we out-recruited USF, Coastal Carolina, FAU, FIU, etc...?

Of the 14 SEC teams we finished 6th. That is the problem. The flagship University of the State of Florida and one of the premier programs in the SEC and we were 6th. We are losing Florida Talent to schools we shouldn't be losing that talent to. We were by far the best program in the state of Florida and we lost blue chip recruits to a Miami team that didn't know how to play offense last year.

The problem is that you are pumping while looking at the wrong data set. Who cares if we out-recruited Iowa we won't be playing them unless we vastly underachieve and play in the Mrs Butterworth bowl.

Agree on the lack of DT/SDE early. But there seems to be a shift in our focus.

Amazing the immediate impact hiring David Turner had on upgrading the DL recruiting this cycle. Seems absurd that after whiffing so badly on RBs and Safeties the past 2 classes that Coach Mullen wouldn't make similar moves to bring in better recruiters for those positions. Like Coach Mullen, I value my friends also. It doesn't mean I'd have any of them as business partners or keep them employed just because of friendship.

I think we all want to be #1 in the SEC. but with recruiting, what is the difference between 2&6? 3&7? How does the ranking actually correlate talent?
1 vs 3, not much. 1 and 3 vs 8? About 11 elite players vs 4, multiplied by 4 years.

lets just pretend you didn't say this. To compete on the field you have to have the gain the talent off the field. We finished 6th, all the teams we are truly competing against for a spot at the top of the ladder are ahead of us, again.

We finished 6th because some nerds evaluated high school kids and attempt to order them. I think rankings as a big picture are important, teams need talent. But how correctly can you quantify Broderick jones talent over issiah Walker's? Or elias Rick's over Jabari Rodgers? How does scheme fit at the next level play into how well talent is maximized? I dont think it's an exact science where one can quantify the difference.

The “multiplied by 4 years” is what it’s all about. It’s tough to overcome having less talent overall, and recruiting momentum is huge.

Obviously, having 10-11 win seasons doesn’t cure all recruiting ills.

I'm happy with the class we brought in. We brought a as good of class as we've in probably a decade as far LOS goes. QB that was built for Dan Mullens offense. We missed on the Williams kid but I'd take a 4 star 6'4" 260lb dlinemen over a safety any day. Sure, we whiffed on a few but there's alot to like about this class. I'm happy with where we're headed.

To me, Evans seems like an implosion waiting to happen. He’s been lauded as a football god in his area, but he’s an odd duck. I get the feeling something is off with that kid.
