Well, what isnt shown there is he isnt taking the 1000th ranked garbage that Butters did. So we got that going for us.

Things are still far from right, though. Way too many misses on top guys.

Build it and they will come...the donk.

That's a valid point (about not taking the FIU garbage Butters took).

I'd say our roster is somewhere in the middle of where Muschamp & Zook's recruiting was - and due to Muschamp's awful OL recruiting we're probably in a little better shape than his teams (offensively - and not quite as good defensively). Meyer won an NC in 2006 after a poor signing class in 2005 - and mostly winning w/ the talent Zook left behind. If we incrementally keep moving up, getting more blue-chip kids (closer to top 100 than top 350 - i.e. kids who are barely 4-stars) we have a chance - this is how Clemson did it (along w/ dynamic QB play).

I'm not writing Mullen off yet. He was dealt a bad hand and has done a great job - on the field. Once this stand-alone is finished, no more excuses. Replacing some of the staff is the first step and is an easy fix (except for hurt feelings by the coach/es let go).

He’s realistically only a couple hires away, but that’s a huge hurdle. It may take big boosters pressuring Stricklin to fire Knox and English. Even then, I think Mullen would fight hard over it. That is what many of us saw as an issue from day one. Mullen will limit himself to Richt like results.

I would imagine CBB recruiting is much easier than CFB recruiting since they only sign 2 to 5 prospects each cycle. Although the staff is much smaller, they still need to put in an effort, but it's only w/ a handful of kids.

Although they may be recruiting fewer players it appears that it is still a year round activity. I know this young man's travel schedule is brutal both during the season as well as the off season. Reminds me that Division I coaches have no hope of anything resembling a normal family life.

Does this mean they now think he'll actually qualify?

Xavier Peters would be a gator if not for the admins getting in the way. His grades were so bad, they wouldn't even let him visit. He flipped to fsu who didn't give up on him. So, this is a good sign. They think he is on the right track at least. By the way, Peters worked his butt off and qualified. He would have gotten in to UF. In the end, it was no loss. He isn't very good.

But perhaps the biggest flashing warning light is the following:

2019-12-18-Gators-coaches-third-recruiting-classes.png

These are National ranks on recruiting day. Fast forward 6 months. Meyer lost 3 safeties before august practice. Half of Zooks kids never made it into school or were kicked off the team.

Half? Link?

The other real issue isngrade inflation. As Will Miles mentioned SOME of the top 250 used to be 3 stars. Now several gundred more are low 4 stars, even though they arent top kids now.

It is the same with three stars. Half those kids would have been two stars under the older systems.

The total number was 11 who eventually did leave the team, two didn't qualify (4* & 3*) , two were kicked off campus (3* and 4*) , 1 that quit football/college (3*) and 6 transferred (2-4*, 4-3* or less). So not exactly half. But this class also has two SEC Championships and two National Championships on it's resume along with 5 guys who ended up with NFL contracts.

Donk asking for a link to back up a hyperbolic claim? I think I just pissed myself laughing
:lmao2:

It just seemed like a questionable stat, perhaps originating in his anal sphincter.

Luckily, I now know that 11 is half of 75 or so, which Im assuming Zook landed in 3 his 3 recruiting classes.

Seriously? Because he made some pretty good points about how Evans would be a great fit at UF.
The kid does seem legit, like a Percy-type difference maker. I hope we get him.
Yes, he is a dwag, self proclaimed.

He also likes to ride Third and Granthams cawk and thinks if they had just kept him 5 more years he would have figured out third down.

He does a pretty good job analyzing the game. He's an UGA guy, but keeps his analysis pretty free from bias usually.
His analysis is crap.

He is good w particular plays but doesnt seem to understand why Dwag Choker fails on third down more often than not and why Mullinz is 60th rank.

Of course, if you are used to Dwag coordinators underperforming, especially their shyttastic OCs.....
