In this college basketball season, nearly every underdog has a shot at winning. Our odds of winning tomorrow are low, but not impossible. Live by the 3, die by the 3 (and Mike White's coaching).

Name and town if you wish to opine.

Haven’t been paying attention to UK this season. How does Florida match up? What’s the scouting report?

To some extent this team is like every other UK team, very talented and athletic, but the difference is that they have a couple of veteran players that have stayed in college like Nick Richards so you can't count on them to falter fairly often as in the past.

We match up pretty well but only if CMW decides to play bigs Saturday (Payne and Jetoboh) beyond Blackshear.

Let's face it, we have a problem playing well for an extended period of time and therefore it will be very difficult to withstand the onslaught of a very good team, a very big crowd, and inconsistent officiating that seems to be the norm in the SEC this year.

I am hopeful but not confident.

I've watched some UK basketball this season. I was actually a student at UK during the Rupp years in '65 and '66, before I got drafted by Uncle Sam. Returned to college at UF, did my BS and MS work there and became a Gator. After graduation I moved to Tallahassee, married a seminole and those events drove me deeper into the Swamp.

Regarding the game, this is a game the Gators can win. the kittens quickley seems to match up well with Locke; but we may not have the athleticism to deal with montgomery or richards unless Jitoboh breaks out again and dominates the paint. If the Gators can handle hagans and maxey, play diligently for 40 minutes (no dumb passes) and rain 3's; we can win this game. We are playing better, but both teams are heavy with freshman and sophomores so the most inconsistent team will struggle.

Thinking positively, we still have an opportunity to win out and take over the division lead especially if we start this week and bust up the log jam for 2nd place in our division.

This UK team is good but not top 10 good. Not one of the better UK teams of the past 15 years and no sure fire lottery picks, except maybe Maxey but he is raw. They have an excellent point guard in Hagans who understands the game and is a great defender. UK struggles scoring often and as a team is a terrible 3 point shooting group. They are easily beatable as evidenced by losing at home to Evansville and struggling twice against Vandy. But to win we must play well, not turn the ball over and take good shots. Poor shot selection will lead to run outs on the other end. UK is not deep nor do they have much size in the paint besides Richards and he is subject to foul trouble.

Bless your heart 76. You've had a rough time other than being a Gator :).

Hagans is an excellent defender and think will make Nembhard's life difficult. Kentucky is a bit turnover prone at times, so maybe we can do some damage there.

However, it's at Rupp so the refs will call Florida for about 20+ fouls and the kitties will go to the charity stripe often. They are #14 in the nation in ft attempts per game. They go to the line 24 times a game! And they are very good at the line. 78%....good for #5 in the nation.

UK...21-5 ...(11-2_SEC) >>>>> ESPN ...6 PM
UF ... 17-9 ...(9-4_SEC)

UK =75.2 ppg ... UF =72.8 ppg
UK = FG% 46.1% ... UF = 45.2%
UK = 3 pt 32.7% ..... UF = 34.5%
UK = FT% .... UF =
UK = 37.8 Reb/g .... UF = 35.9 Reb/g
UK = TO/g 12.6 ......UF = 12.2 TO/g
UK = Steals 5.1/g .... UF = 5.9/g
UK = Blks 5.4/g ...... UF = 4/g

UK top scorers: ----- UF top scorers:
Quickly 15.2 ---------- KJohnson 13.7
Richards 14.5 -------- Blackshear 13.2
Maxey 13.9 ----------- Nembhard 11.9
Hagans 12.0 --------- Locke 10.8

Kentucky shoots 4.8 3s/g

So, our 3-pt% is better and we shoot more 3s/g. Is that our area for victory?
Our scorers' averages are on the rise. Let's hope.

What a start to the weekend for Gator athletics! SEC Championship, beat no 1 in baseball and beat two top 25 teams in softball. Let's finish this thing, send those overblown so called blue bloods and their wannabe carnival barker coach to the locker room with a big L. GO GATORS!

If our shots fall early we win this game.
White seems to be getting a feel for this squad with the right mix of tough love and encouraging butt slaps, as opposed to earlier in the year when it was mostly frustration on his part.

Yep, its gonna come down to can we take 3pters and make them. Given UKs defense and our consistent 8 min droughts...its gonna be a herculean effort to keep the game close

We cou Go Gatorld beat these guys by hitting 3s. Perhaps, these cats never seen a defense like ours? With that can we get them rattled enough that we can befoul their plans -- Calipari's schemes?

We really must fight for this win. Please, please let's not allow one of those rapid-fire point-pouring streaks UK gets enthused over.
6 PM Go Gators !!

What wonderful things might happen for us to beat UK?
Locke has to hit near 50% on his 3s. But KJ could hit high on 3s. Nembhard can have that type of game. Please Blackshear, don't throw away a bunch of 3-pt attempts. What if Scotty Lewis annoys the UK ball handler unto mistakes of TOs? Let Payne and especially Jitoboh just see if they can sneak fouls past the refs. {Think on this = White has to counsel Jitoboh to save himself so he can foul.} :confused:

[I spotted Mr. Magoo at the half, talking about Madison Square Garden.] :confused:

I just want a game where our boys leave it all on the floor. We know coRRUP arena is tough place to win. Want them to play loose and fearless. UK's balanced scoring is impressive. If they start the size I read about its gonna be tough going inside or rebounding..........I may have to go visit Rupps Rafters to see whats going on.

My opinion is that the original post in an official game thread should include the time and channel which in this case is 6 p.m. on ESPN. That's the time and place to tune in to see the Gators do better than expected.
I failed my one duty. Ready to accept my punishment :whipped:

No Hagans for UK, far and away their most important player. Have to take advantage of this good fortune.
