Going back how long? Last two hires? Well Ohio State(tressel Meyer), FSU(dumbo Bowden), LSU(Saban miles), Wisconsin(biliema his successor), oregon(kelly helfrich), penn state (O'brien franklin), ok state(miles Grundy), auburn(Chizik malzahn), Texas (Mack strong) just off the top of my head

Which duo is supposed to be impressive? I can find two, Oregon and LSU. And before Saban and Miles, LSU ran through guys like Curly Hallman and Gerry Dinardo. Penn State, Ok State, Texas are terrible examples as none of them know what they have with their current coaches, in fact, all three are very much wait-and-see. Ohio State plays in the Big 10 where you and gatoravatara could win 10 games. FSU totally botched the Bowden/Jimbob thing and as we know, the ACC and Urban's esophagus greatly assisted Jimbo and FSU. You're calling Chizik a sustained success?

You can find two decent examples in the last decade and if you extend it to Foley's entire tenure, 20+ years, you're left with NOBODY!

The hoops some of you jump through to minimize and criticize Foley is one of life's great mysteries to me.

Now add two NC's in basketball and all the other sports and it's no contest.

Foley isn't beyond reproach, but when people start throwing around foolish ideas about firing him because he whiffed on Muschamp, a coach most people originally thought was a solid hire at the time, they just sound stupid.

BTW, Foley was soley responsible for persuading Meyer away from his "dream job" at Notre Dame, not Machen. Machen himself says how foolish it is for people say it was him.

There is no blind loyalty, just facts. I am not defending Foley's hire of Zook, he made a mistake, but Muschamp was universally recognized in college football as a great candidate for any big job available. Bowden and Paterno were forced out, Fisher and all the others have had bad seasons with fan bases wanting their scalps. How many championships did Harbaugh win or Shaw? Overall, Foley has developed a model program that is #1 in the nation. By the way, you want Penn States AD or FSU's?

His whiff on Mushchimp was doubling down on year four, which also doubled down on our recruiting failures (one bad class-- I don't care about the rankings I'm talking about filling our needs at OL, receiver and back-- followed by the current total disaster).

That is not unlike his decision to give Daz the year as de facto HC while he hoped the real Meyer would return from whatever that was.... which of course also led to recruiting issues galore.

Would at least one of you geniuses who think you can do Foley's job 10 times better, please give me a list of all the top tier football programs in the country that has not hired multiple head football coaches there were busts? It won't be any SEC school. How about a BIG10, Big 12, PAC 12 or least of all the ACC. Give it a rest, you are embarrassing yourself and the Gator Nation by your ignorance. Foley is human and thus fallible. He has built the number one rated NCAA athletic business and you idiots keep spitting on him.

More research would need to be done to see which AD's survived bad hires. Not program but AD's. Foley will NOT survive if JM fails.

No. Let's see what happens. Six years was too long of a contract, first off, so he better work out. Foley is not untouchable. He really needs this hire to work out. We all do so calm the F down.

I like Foley. I think he's among the best in the business. I like the hire. However, the notion that we "SCHOOLED CSU" is somewhere between comical and embarrassing. Foley tried to get a deal and when he saw he couldn't he asked where to send the check, stuffed some extra bills in McCoach's pocket to cover the tip and then invited them over to our house for dinner and told them they can keep the dinnerware. It was a good negotiation on both parts. The poor negotiator was McCoach for not demanding a true "Dream Job" clause.

I've got 3 brothers that sell cars; 2 in Central FL and one in North FL. You guys that know we stole McCoach away from CSU, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go see them. They will HOOK YOU UP with a great deal!!

I"m always amazed when a jort lizard exhibits cleverness and humor. That being said Tennessee and the Tennessee AD is certainly no role model of success but unfortunately for you is not the issue here. We're talking about Jeremy Foley, the poster child of bad decisions, a man personally responsible for wasting three years letting Florida flounder with Muschamp and losing another three years (or more) before a rebuilding program will produce a team capable of competing for the SEC championship.
Any of you who praise this Spin Doctor Assassin of your SEC prospects must be secret agents from Tallahassee.

I'll take the under on your "three years or more," you sister lovin' backwoods idjit. With all due respect, of course.

Dear Friends,
I would alter the discussion here and ask how much longer Foley will stay at Fla? Does he have an AD in waiting? This could be our next big issue.
