Great player but terrible owner (I’m probably the only Hornets fan on this board).

I’ll watch the first episode and take it from there.

Hell yeah I’ll be watching. Growing up in Illinois during that time Jordan and the Bulls were all we had sports wise. The breaking up of that team was pretty much the end of me ever watching the NBA again.

I grew up in Illinois and hated the Bulls and the Bears (though I always loved watching Walter Payton). Thankfully I was already in Florida when the Bulls went on their run, so I didn't have to deal with the maniacal Chicago fans; but I did have to deal with them and the 1985 Super Bowl Shuffling Bears. :puke:
Mad respect to Jordan, but hated Pippin and the rest, riding his coat tails.

Not a Pippin fan either for the same reason.
I think he may be the most overrated player in NBA history. The success Pippin has gained proves the greatness of Jordan since he made his teammates look better than they were.

This is the part where someone responds with meaningless stats that they suggest shows his greatness but in reality it only proves my point.

I am planning to watch the documentary since I am desperate for sports

Pippen was an incredible talent, also one of the greatest defensive players who ever lived. However, I agree he would never be able to carry a team to a championship himself. He wouldn't make his teammates better like the legends of the game: Jordan, Bird, Magic, etc.

Pippen was the perfect side kick for Jordan. He was a hell of a player. Not top 50 all time like he was voted previously but you can’t say that he was not a great player

I watched. Didn't care for the Bulls, didn't like Jordan (I know it's heresy), but I did prefer them over the Pistons of that era. Found some interesting points in the show but really liked the nostalgia of going back to the 90s. Between watching the Boston-LA series previously and this series I feel like a young man again.

Of course I wouldn't watch any of this if there was any live sports option. I strongly dislike the NBA.

I love the 80's and 90's NBA - I watch anything I can on those eras. Can't stand it since.

What is funny to me are people on Twitter saying that Scottie Pippen is one of the most underrated players in the last 30 years or some such grand declaration. This is a guy who, in the midst of his career with the Bulls, was already placed on the NBA 50 at 50 list as one of the best of all time in 1997.

Also, you never hear anyone say anything about the Bulls championships that didn't have some sort of variation of how the team took that step once Pippen arrived.

I think the man got his due in terms of appreciation. And then some.

Yes....except money. That contract was a joke, but that was his fault.

You also didn't mention the inexplicable decision to put him on the 1992 Olympic team. At that time, it was a shocking decision.

Right - also didn't mention that Dominique was left off the 50 at 50 list, which at the time he was top 10 all time NBA scoring.

The sentiments about Pippen would make Quasimoto's head explode if he were on this board. At the very least, he'd educate all of us about the 5 tool player that Pip was. I wonder what ever happened to him and the rest of the round table chucklefu*ks?

Here's what I don't get at all. The "villain" for that team was obviously Jerry Krause. But how the hell does Reinsdorf get a pass? He was Krause's boss, and ultimately called all the shots. So, what he actually did was choose Jerry freaking Krause over Jackson, Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman. He actually rejected at least another title or two, unnecessarily dismantling a dynasty, over his fat little GM.

In his interviews he acts like he was some kind of powerless, shoulder-shrugging observer. HE should be the villain, not Krause. It's inexplicable.

Here's an article that touches on this:

'The Last Dance' stokes Jerry Reinsdorf reservations among White Sox fans

"My problem with that analysis is that Reinsdorf did not position himself as the boss to Jordan, Jackson and Pippen. He positioned himself as the owner and positioned Krause as the boss. What’s interesting to me is that as a member of the White Sox organization in 1995, Jordan again found himself in a power struggle with a Reinsdorf-employed general manager, Ron Schueler, and again held the GM accountable for the animus, rather than the actual boss.

In both cases, Reinsdorf seems to have built a dynamic where the GM becomes the bad guy while he, Reinsdorf, evades the deepest criticisms. Even still, Reinsdorf has not been able to shield himself from the broader question of whether the Bulls were prematurely broken up, and what role he played in it."
